It's bad enough that they are losing the best coach they ever had, but if they lose their best 8 players that would have returned and been the nucleus of their 2026 team that will likely be devastating to their 2026 season regardless of who they get for their next coach. That is how the game is played today. If we land those 8, they won't be the only ones we land in the transfer portal. They will be just the first. We have $30m to work with. Lots will go to retention but not stupidly like Franklin did. We will land key players to fill key needs.

Train up Howard, Denmark, Outten, et al with better coaches/technique. Keep the tight ends. Get a quick, strong RB, if current RBs are more Nick than Kaytron. QB position looks okay. Just get some of those big DTs from ISU and one or two exceptional LBs from elsewhere. Add maybe a Safety. Stopping the run would have won four to five more games this year.

Iowa St's defensive strength was stopping the run. They may have some help for us.

I believe ISU has a WR or two that were playmakers that may be among the 8....

Best player news from the Campbell presser is that he wants to develope kids. He will take portal where needed but PSU will develop the kids entrusted to them. He took kids who were not in thr top 1000, 50% of his recruits.
