Ever wonder about the chaos on the sidelines?

Play calling, players coming on and off. Players talking to each other. Coaches debating calls.

Here’s a peak at just one play….all be it a big one!

I love this stuff. And that is over ten years ago. today, teams have all kinds of analytics on tendencies on, say, 3rd and 4 in the red zone against a man, zone, 1/2/3 high safeties. I also think this is why the TE has become so valuable. Good TEs, like Kittle, Kelce and LaPorta can be a TE on the line, TE in the slot, TE in motion, at Full Back and a Tackle. When a team puts in two TEs and two large WRs, it is hard to know if they are going to run or pass. it is hard to ID the tendencies with that kind of flexibility. It is also very helpful in hurry up or no-huddle offenses.

In addition, the D gets to sub after the O. That puts pressure on the O to get their players in quickly and that puts pressure on the D who has to get set before the clock runs out. I think the D has three seconds after the O to start the substitution process.
