Thoughts on this? I believe that Nebraska held on to him longer than they should have, but I also don't believe that they are going to be relevant going forward when it comes to vying for the conference title, playoff.

I think it was a bad job for Scott Frost. Too much pressure. I don't think a period like 1970-1997 is likely again, but I think Nebraska can be at least Wisconsin good given enough time and commitment. Frost was under too much pressure and wasn't mentally tough enough to handle it. His teams played like that as well.Everyone knew it was a bad job. And Frost should not have taken it. But money was too good.

Some previous Cincinnati coaches have done all right when moving up to face the big boys. Fickell was 6-7 at Ohio State. He's 13-13 at UW. Maybe just doesn't know how to win in the Big Ten.The difference in winning at a Gof5 and a P4 is worlds apart. Fickell is in the same boat. 10 win seasons at Cincy, is he even .500 at Wisky? UCF is the same. Decent coaches have won at the lower level, but struggle when they bump up. It's different getting big boys 8 or 9 times a year instead of prepping for 1 or 2 a year.
A little odd that he says he really didn't want to help his alma mater. I guess the money was too good to pass up because did he really think he was winning a title at Nebraska? No he didn't which he said was his criteria. He would have wanted to go there if he thought he was going to win a title so he just went there for a big payday, didn't feel anything special for his alma mater and didn't think he could win a title. That only leaves money as the reason. I am sure Nebraska would say the same thing...."What did you learn from the Scott Frost hire? "Don't hire a guy who is the wrong guy."
yea always wondered about the chicken and egg aspect of that,. Did the pressure of the expectations there lead to heavier drinking in response to not meeting those expectations that further impacted his performance which led to worse outcomes and even heavier drinking. I remember seeing him on TV and had that bag face heavy drinker look to him.It was pretty well known and reported that he had a drinking problem while at Nebraska. Got too drunk on a recruiting trip to show up at Dylan Raiola’s house. That may have impacted his time at Nebraska.
