Indiana opens as 7.5-point favorite against Miami

I've followed this sport for decades and have been conditioned to think of Indiana as bumbling and pathetic. Yet over the last two games, they've looked like one of the greatest teams in the annals of college football and are now looking to make history.

Everything is clicking for them. They've shown no weaknesses or vulnerabilities. And it starts with their quarterback who's totally lived up to his Heisman award. I mean, if he plays like he did last night and against Alabama...and is given time to throw the ball...Indiana is virtually unbeatable.

Yet this is basically a home game for Miami, and the Canes appear to be peaking at exactly the right time. They've got arguably the best DL in college football and I think that's key to their hopes. If they can be disruptive and get pressure on Mendoza, Miami has a shot. Their QB is not spectacular but he is a veteran. And this 18-year old Malachi Toney kid is electrifying...a big play waiting to happen.

I think this game is going to be closer than Vegas thinks.

Indiana will have to contain canes DEs. But let’s face it, that pick six was a back breaker. They had one against OSU as well.

Also, I read the average age of Indiana players is 23. The Green Bay packers is 25. Indiana is revolutionizing the game by building it with under valued kids that proved themselves at lesser programs instead of developing high school kids. You won’t see Indiana starting a freshman or sophomore QB and taking a year to develop him. That concept is now toast

Agreed on all counts.

Oregon gifted Indiana 21 points early on with one back-breaking turnover after another deep in its own territory. The game was over before halftime.

Also, Mendoza may have moved himself ahead of Moore as #1 pick in this year's draft.

If I hear Sean McD correctly, he said Indiana has lost only 1 fumble all season! I don't know whether that's some kind of record or not, but it seems extraordinarily lucky to me. I mean, like that near-fumble last night that bounced around right back to Mendoza.

I am not in any way diminishing Indiana's enormous success. I just believe that sometimes wins and losses come down to "lucky" bounces or unforced errors (like fumbled punts or bad snaps over the QBs head). But then Darrell Royal used to say, "You make your own luck." So maybe Indiana will continue its amazing ability to hold on to the ball.

I'm shocked that Mendoza has ever not been ahead of Moore in the draft. Mendoza's timing and accuracy are at the NFL level, with maybe some Brady intuition mixed in.

I've watched all of 2 Indiana games this year, Bama and last night's game against the Ducks. 38-3 and 54 - 24. Indiana made its own luck, that's for sure.

That’s correct. Only one lost fumble in 14 games. When I looked it up Indiana only had 5 total fumbles on the season. If you rarely fumble you’ll rarely turn it over. That is a rather incredible statistic.

I checked Mel Kiper's latest big board this evening and sure enough, he's moved Mendoza ahead of Moore.

Honestly, Mendoza just looked flat-out better than Moore last night.
