For a black kid to be playing at an almost all white school in Iowa in 1923 is pretty surprising to me.

Not only long before segregation was taboo and the birth of the civil rights movement this was shortly after the Woodrow Wilson presidency in which he sparked the return of the KKK.

Had to be difficult times.
