If Lee didn't believe his army was invincible, he would have heeded Longstreet's words.

I was up for the 150th Anniversary of Gettysburg. Amazing turnout. I rode the first day under Buford's cavalry and the union. The next two days, I switched to the Confederacy to be camp cook for my best friend. I've been shoeing his horses for 30 + years. His horses were in Gettysburg, The Patriot, and God's and Generals. Yes, he actually had one of the horses which portrayed Lee's horse Traveler.

Almost unbelievable carnage

The carnage was immeasurable. Photos outside of Gettysburg College were beyond imagination from amputations. Old Dorm photos are nearly as bad as Dachau or Auschwitz. Then the rains came and the pigs on the battlefield eating the bodies. Pure horror.
