MLB baseball at Bristol Tennessee

There is going to be the first major league baseball game played in Tennessee. It will be played at the Bristol NASCAR race track and they have already sold over 85,000 tickets making it the biggest crowd for a regular season game ever.

MLB is going all out, building dugouts, players locker rooms, full experience. Jerseys with NASCAR numbers and checkered flags.

Should be fun. Anyone going?

My son and I went on Saturday. We (along with 2 daughters and a 2 and a half year old grandson) were returning from a northern Georgia mountain vacation and Bristol was a "convenient" stopover. Truth is that we had to stay about 30 miles north of Bristol and it was not a fiscally sound decision.

Our seats were about 4 rows from the top in right center field. I guesstimate 200 to 250 yards (not feet) from home plate. I couldn't see the ball and there was a time lag hearing the ball hit the bat.

The Speedway is huge for baseball. Spent the rain delay underneath the seats. Reminded me of Beaver Stadium in much better shape.

We did not return on Sunday as getting home was more important. My sour taste regarding the event may have changed with some Tennessee sunshine.

A true shame it rained so much. Pretty unusual to have such weather in early August. They tried forcing the game, a big mistake.

If it had been good weather it would have been a fun, party atmosphere.
