Next Year's Schedule, 10-2?

Why would you predict 10-2 when we couldn't beat UCLA or NW with Allar, DDS, Harris, etc? I fully expect a lot of players who would be returning to enter the portal.
I understand what you’re saying, but I think the original post is alluding to the fact that we don’t have an Ohio State, Indiana or Oregon on the schedule. It’s definitely doable if they get the right person and they know what they’re doing with regard to the portal.

It is a very easy schedule and I expect PSU to hire a coach that can hit the ground running. These are dark times, but that schedule gives me hope for next year. Will we end up 10-2, who knows, but it sure looks doable. That is a great schedule for the new coach and I hope he can build from it.

If grunk plays decent theses 6 games and they keep the right 30-40 guys they win 7 for sure. Keep more than that and get other solid portal kids and it can be 9+

I know he was referring to the schedule. Next year was already going to be a rebuild with experienced star players from our #6 class graduating and getting replaced by inexperienced players from 15th ranked classes. Now a lot of those kids are heading to the portal. If we don't sign a new coach until January a lot of good portal players will have already decided to go elsewhere.

Great to be optimistic. But the clear best players this season are Rojas, Harris, Wheatley, DDS, Durant, Allen, Reynolds, loane, Shelton, and Donkoh. Out of those the only one likely to return is Reynolds.

Most other years there are a number of young players, freshmen and redshirt freshmen, that show enough to believe that they are very likely to emerge as high level starters the following season. Other than Dixon and Joseph at CB, and Coleman (and Granville back) at DE, there is no real evidence of super young talent from the last couple recruiting classes. Weaknesses that will be needed to be heavily addressed with transfers are LB, DT, Safety, WR and possibly OL. And that's assuming Terry Smith can keep the other returning players on the 2 deep.

Fortunately it is a very weak schedule other than Michigan and USC. The only other games that a competent coaching staff that brings in a few high leve starters should be questions marks are Maryland and Minney, unless some how Wisky returns to being a 9 win team and Rutgers continues to improve.

Honest question. How do coaches manage this? If it remember right, coordinates leave the team to manage the portal. I do not remember how head coaches manage this in the past.

UW @ UW will not be an easy game for this team. X-country travel among other things
Wisconsin is a pretty sorry team this season, 2-5 so far and they may not win another game this season, so why would we expect them to take a big leap forward next season? They could even lose their coach this off season.
