Nico's nightmare

Link below. So it turns out that UNLV upset 14-point favorite UCLA in a game sealed when heralded Tennessee transfer QB Nico Iamaleava threw a late interception.

Nico's start with the 0-2 Bruins has not been good...and that's putting it mildly. You may recall he left Tennessee in the lurch when the Vols refused to pay more cash to keep him.

Our game at UCLA on October 4, the week after Oregon, is looking less dicey by the day:

It's probably safe to say that Nico was overrated coming out of HS. Being one of the early NIL darlings ($2 mil per year to attend Tennessee), he's had the microscope on him more than most. QB is and always will be the most visible player of every team. Tennessee has had strong offenses since Heupel arrived and with Nico at the helm the offense stagnated.

It doesn't help that he then overrated his own value, but a transfer to UCLA was not a good career move. Foster has looked in over his head since his first statement at Big 10 media days and the on field product has been just as mediocre. Truthfully, I believe they might be weaker in year 2 than they were last year.

I think Foster may be too nice of a guy. In the Big10, it's the trenches. He must recruit and fish the portal with that in mind. Another problem is that the school's admin might not care.

It's crazy...their new guy, Joey Aguilar, transferred from UCLA and though the book is far from written, it appears Tennessee got the better of that trade.

Aguilar has looked very good as the Vols have jumped off to a 2-0 start, but they've got a huge game coming up against Georgia on Saturday.
