OT Professional sports

Now that athletes are being paid $, some millions, b4 they enroll, in my opinion there is zero justification for collegiate sports.
In most cases, we the tax payer are paying $276 per student, through student loans, to attend a season of home football games. In the 1960s we bought a student activities pass for a nominal fee. It got us into all events.

Most sports are now free admission
The student portal now says wait for further information. The $ needed to attract and keep the best wrestlers, volleyball players, women's basketball players, etc. will probable require that students start paying to attend most sports.
Most universities lose $ on sports. If it provides free entertainment for students you can justify it. If it is a conduit to pay professional athletes it is not justified.
Most students do not attend sports activities. There is no ceiling to the cost of paying players. It is bound to keep increasing. Eventually, that alone will choke collegiate sports in most schools.
