Rutgers @ 3:30

On FSB1. Another national broadcast.

Pretty surprising considering we have a losing record so far. It’s Rutgers. And at a small stadium.

Methinks the national is media sensing that Terry Smith is becoming a national story. He is already creating a buzz.

Update: Google search said FSB1. Fox sports says BTN 🤷🏽‍♀️

It may have been switched after last night’s big win and websites aren’t updated yet. Gopsusports still says TBA

The media…,gotta set the narrative right???…

Fire Franklin, he’s a terrible coach, can’t win the big one

Penn State shouldn’t have been so harsh on CJF, he was one series from playing for a NC, great program builder, Top 10 coach

Hire Terry, everybody wants him as HC

Don’t fall for it!!

We’ve beaten Sparty and a team whose QB was hurt and they played a true frosh.

I love the win, the team attitude and the love. But TS isn’t the second coming of urban Meyer. If we hire Terry it is because we couldn’t get a blue chip HC.

PSU is still a big tv draw and it is a NY market.

Not falling for anything. Smith is the correct choice. Not some hired gun.

Not sure I agree with that. Great guy, and doing great things. But if you’re going to fire Franklin and then hire his assistant, I struggle with that.

If that’s the approach then I would’ve been ok with a vote of confidence from Kraft for Franklin, keep the recruiting class intact, get things in order for next year since this year didn’t work out. That’s been the Penn St way for a long time. But fire Franklin to hire his assistant bc the team is playing well now and really likes him? I sure hope Kraft had and has a better plan than that if the goal is long term success and a Natl championship. If not, I’ll live with playoffs most years, having a great culture and good success, and hopefully we get to a NC at some point.

Every head coach was an assistant at some point.

And the corporate world as well as football is full of stories of someone rising up and successfully replacing a failed CEO.

So far TS has made big changes. He stopped the 50/50 carry rule on Allen/Singleton and let Allen be the man….just like everybody had been saying to do for weeks.

He is throwing the ball deep taking pressure off the running game.

Appears to have simplified both O and D allowing players to play instead of think.

Suddenly receivers are getting open so he must have changed schemes…..or allowed Kotelnicki to actually play his game.

All of this tells me you aren’t gonna be hiring Franklin’s assistant. You will be hiring a man unafraid to be his own man.

You are hiring a head coach.

Agree. Very large TV viewer audience is likely the driver, with Terry being the intriguing , but secondary, story.
—Also agree with likelihood of hiring a blue chip HC as the priority. They/we just had a high end/very good HC, if you’re going to truly justify his firing, an elite HC needs to be ( and likely is) the target.
—I love Terry. He is predominantly “old school “, and brings a lot of “Joe” with him. In my opinion, that is a great thing. But there are those ( who have influence), that continue to not want a “whiff” of Joe. I think this also, unfortunately, works against Terry. —JMO

I love Terry. But he is a big risk and not a ‘home run’. Of course, I love the guy. If there is any major hc like him, it is Michigans head coach, Sharrone Moore.

Hiring TS would be the PSU thing to do from a cultural standpoint. And frankly, I can live with that. If fact, I would embrace it.

Realistically though, this isn't your daddy's PSU. So much is now driven by money. Success with honor is just a bumper sticker. Financially, PSU needs to hit a home run.

Rutgers is intriguing. Two Joe guys going at it with bowl eligibility on the line. It'll be a hard hitting game, but I think our momentum will carry the day.

TS is known as our best recruiter. That means he knows all about negotiating NIL deals. Knows how to work the portal.

Also means he knows the money people. The donors. Sponsors. Alumni. Lettermen.

I bet if he gets the job money will flow in. There’s a helluva lotta current and former NFL guys with deep pockets and deeper connections.

If money is the top concern TS is way better than a small college coach from James Madison.
