Ruy Teixeira Appreciation Thread

It's amazing that many democrats don't even under their own dogma... Too consumed with hating Trump I suppose.

Hard to believe Hamas attacked Israel in 2023. Many on the left still support Hamas. Unbelievable.

Time to Throw the Intersectional Left Under the Bus!

The appalling terrorist attack by the appalling terrorist group Hamas, which slaughtered more than 1300 Israelis, 87 percent of whom were civilians, is the largest single day killing of Jews since the Holocaust. The response of America’s intersectional left has also been appalling. As Sohrab Ahmari accurately noted in a Compact magazine article titled “Woke Is Dying”:

Many of those who spent the last few years promoting #Defund, “intersectionality,” and similar concepts refused to condemn Hamas’s butchery—that is, when they didn’t celebrate it. The Chicago chapter of Black Lives Matter tweeted, “I Stand With Palestine,” along with a picture of a paraglider, an allusion to how Hamas terrorists descended upon an outdoor party, murdering some 260 ravers. Yale American Studies professor Zareena Grewal declared: “Settlers are not civilians. This is not hard.” The New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America promoted a Times Square rally at which murderers were hailed as liberators.

What is wrong with these people?

In my opinion, the rot goes very deep. This is not a one-off. Over the last number of years, huge swathes of the American left have become infected with an ideology that judges actions or arguments not by their content but rather by the identity of those involved in said actions or arguments. Those identities in turn are defined by an intersectional web of oppressed and oppressors, of the powerful and powerless, of the dominant and marginalized. With this approach, one judges an action not by whether it’s effective or an argument by whether it’s true but rather by whether the people involved in the action or argument are in the oppressed/powerless/marginalized bucket or not. If they are, the actions or arguments should be supported; if not, they should be opposed.

Dems have a good chance to take the house in 2026.

I think Reps will keep the senate by a razor thin margin. It looks like Collins will lose in Maine and whoever replaces Tillis in NC will also likely be a democrat. That would bring 53-47 down to 51-49.

I'm not sure what impact the BBB will have. Current polls show that it's wildly unpopular but I think a lot of that is due to democrat scare tactics. A lot of people have been led to believe that Food stamps, Medicaid, and even Medicare are at risk but the reality is nobody loses their benefit except for illegals and able bodied people who refuse to work. People might feel better once they discover that their benefits weren't impacted.

Democrats will continue to run on Reps giving huge tax breaks to billionaires even though there was no such thing. They'll run on tax hikes for the rich but they won't say how much they'll be able to lower the deficit. The fact is they'll propose more new spending that would offset any tax hikes. Of course it won't matter because Trump would veto such efforts.

As usual it all comes down to the economy. Republicans have a chance it unemployment remains below 4.5% and interest rates decline.

Fair assessment. The GOP really needs to get out in front of scare tactics on BBB. There is a clip of several democrats talking about cutting the fat out of medicaid. They should run those clips and end it with the words, "that's what we did." Run it on TV and every social media outlet.

What they should be saying is that there were no new tax cuts for billionaires. It's just a renewal of the same tax rates that have existed for the past 8 years. The only "new" tax cuts are for people who earn tips, those who get OT pay, and some seniors. None of that helps the rich much less billionaires.

Then reinforce the fact that Medicare, Medicaid, and SS are largely not impacted by the BBB. The only thing that's happening is that able bodied people are required to work, volunteer, or go to school 20 hrs per week. They should remind voters that this is less restrictive than it was under Bill Clinton.

The GOP is either not good at or not interested in getting good press. Mind-boggling.
