A lot of people think PSU should move quickly to hire a coach. I disagree.

The rubber is meeting the road with coaches right now.
All these schools that brought in coaches for 2x the pay and getting the same exact results are firing their guys.

At the end of the season many schools will reconsider what they have done.

Even in the Big Ten there are now three schools that got burned. One got out of their contract. One got into a larger contract. And us.

Not that Kelley is the greatest coach we could get. But he is servicable and he's now a 5M per year guy. Would allow us to put 7M into players.

What were the exact areas where Kelly failed at LSU? Recruiting/portal, scheme/system consistency and effectiveness, QB compentency, game management, locker room culture, the presence of leaders? If given every resource available at PSU, then how is success assured with his approach?
Whether Meyer or not, he at least is a coach that won championships at big programs with big expectations. Is anything holding back Kelly from doing the same thing? Maybe there are important leadership factors that are more obscure.
These are my questions regarding any and all candidates. Questions Barbour or the BOT would never know to ask.

Hard NO on Kelly.

I heard someone on the Dan Patrick show (didn't get the name) who said the universities are gonna have to put a stop to this madness. His suggestion was you offer the coach a high salaried job ( around10 million - no extra incentives) for only three years, no extensions and then the university isn't obligated for huge payouts (ala Fisher & Franklin, etc). Some might say, the recruits are looking for a coach to be there their 4 yrs, his answer, not many players are staying at a university very long, it's fluid whether portal, injury, or NFL. Can't have coaches or players holding universities "hostage".

Yup, have to agree with you there, Rick.

The stories that have started filtering out of Baton Rouge since Kelly's firing are none too flattering to the guy.

And this is after he went out of his way to publicly disrespect Notre Dame when he decided to bolt the Irish.

There don't seem to be a lot of people who've worked with Kelly, to include his players, who are inclined to say anything positive about him.

Fortunately, I think the chances of him coming to Happy Valley are between slim and none...and slim just left town.

Why does a coach staying at a University require a 4 year contract?

That's a stupid argument made by agents.

Pretty sure “eventually “ is now. It’s already essentially dead….at least as we’ve known it for the last 50+ years. —It’s almost like lab grown meat…..it looks pretty much the same, but the consumer knows there’s a massive difference. —The amount of of money being thrown around for the “impulse driven” (“ I want to win now”) is obscene. The NFL/media have successfully parasitized the college campuses by throwing around ridiculous amounts of money. This mess is in dire need of adult oversight….if that still exists. JMO
