The Way Too Early Oregon Game Plan

We hope. He has lots of film to dissect from when OSU & PSU played Oregon. Knowles OSU defense struggled against Oregon as did PSU's against Oregon. Oregon probably runs same offense but a different QB who is also very talented. It is necessary Knowles and his staff come up with a better gameplan than either him or Allen had last year vs the Ducks. Huge game in so many ways.
Ohio State changed its defense after the first Oregon game so that it would be less risky. Various different sources last year as well as this year imply that the less risky defense was installed over the objectons of Knowles and could have contributed to his departure from Ohio State.

Looking at the schedule, it is pretty weird. We've got a bye after playing three cupcakes. Oregon, who already played OK State, plays NW and Oregon State before us (no bye). Just a note on OK State, they only beat UT Martin 27-7 in their opening week. And UT Martin got walloped 42-17 by UTEP Saturday. It is going to be a long, long season in Stillwater. While OR recruits really, really well with deep NIL pockets, four of their five starting OL are new to go along with a 60% new roster. They had ten players drafted into the NFL. Back to their OL, they are expected to start three xfer players who come from Wyoming, Nevada and TX State. The announcers mentioned the kid from Nevada who was an all-conference player and was considered, by many, to be the top portal player in last year's class.

Both DTs were drafted. One by the Steelers in the first round and the other went in the second round.

Interestingly, Oregon does not play Ohio State, Michigan or Illinois. The kid who killed us last year was also drafted. That is WR Tez Johnson, who had 11 catches for 181 yards.

We'll be the first quality team they play. We can be far more physical than what they've seen this year. I would expect us to try and run the ball against their two new DTs. I will say this, they are BIG along the D and O lines.
NW (#81) and Oregon St (#97) are both pretty bad too. NW lost 23-3 to Tulane in week 1. Oregon St is 0-2 with losses to Cal and Fresno St. Oregon is sort of playing a stealth cupcake schedule early. Then Ok St is ranked #86 in S&P+. They are power 4 teams, but they are some of the worst power 4 teams. All of them are bottom third or so of all FBS teams.

We aren't ones to talk with FIU (1-1) at #118 and Nevada (1-1) at #120 right now in the S&P+. But none of those teams are masquerading as legit opponents either.

Ys,I also read that speculation. I would like to see less aggressiveness initially against Oregon to see how it goes straight up w/a few corner blitzes.
