University of Utah signs $500 million private equity deal

PE is here.

Dave Ramsey says don't do it. And in three years, the football team will be told to get some two-way players to cut down on expenses. 😎

Sell shares or tokens. Pay dividends in the form of vouchers towards seating.

***
...And/Or, issue a credit card that pays 1.5% to the cardholder and 0.5% to the athletic program

It’s all beyond me… I hope it works out. I’ve mentioned my exposure before to PE and my son’s roles, the environment and culture is much much different and demanding versus a public company culture and environment. I would think that the demands and expectations on returns will be quite high. It will be interesting to see where the U OF Utah brand goes and shows up? That would be my concern about Penn State?

Regarding cutting down on expenses for the players, I don’t think that’s going to happen in this type of deal. This is about the brand and making money off the brand , the licensing rights, etc. Again, these are things that are beyond me. I would think that it will be important for the University to have a strong sports and academic program that will drive brand revenue.
