Week 6: #7 Penn State at UCLA (3:30 PM, CBS) Game Thread

I see us starting slow and having this game be uncomfortably close at halftime. Perhaps 10-3 or 14-3. We will win but it will be an ugly win and just fuel the fire about our inept offense.

I hope I'm wrong and we win 45-0 while dominating from the get go but if we could not really do this in our 3 scrimmages at home then I don't see us doing this on the road vs UCLA after a brutal loss.

Last I checked we were 26-point favorites.

I mean, we're playing a winless team that has completely unraveled, fired its coach, is struggling with a transfer bust at the QB position, and may be the worst program in the league.

In short, it's a tailor-made get-well contest. If they give us a competitive game, that would be a very bad sign. As though we don't have enough bad signs already.

No. Not the Blue Out. 😧😲😟

The Rose Bowl's capacity is 90,000, and UCLA is having trouble putting even 25,000 fans in the stands so good luck with the Blue-Out.

Hey, maybe they could come up with something catchy like Blueout For The Blowout...

OC will be Jerry Neuheisel for UCLA. They fired Sunseri last week (the old OC) after firing their HC the week before. They are also starting a new QB.

They'll come out with a lot of fire because they are embarrassed. If PSU can start strong, they'll collapse quickly. But if PSU lets the taste some success, we'll be in for a bit of a fight. It will be interesting to see how PSU plays coming off of a very disappointing loss at home to Oregon. I want to see some FIGHT in out team, espeically the OL. They need to do what tOSU did last year after losing to Michigan. Just pin their ears back, quit thinking and just out physical everyone. This is an inflection point and the team can go either way.

Part of me wants them to unleash the passing game with 40 or 50 throws in hopes to build confidence. It definitely should not be needed as the Run game shouldn't have many issues. Fingers crossed anyway

I’m not real optimistic. Not saying we lose, but I’m not expecting a good bounce back.

Maybe they are painting the seats blue. Pitt does it with their yellow/gold Steeler's seats, but it's not very effective......... ;)

Haven't we seen enough of the 3 transfer WR's to conclude they by themselves are not the answers at WR that could lead PSU deep into the playoffs??????

The whole Spring practice on offense seemed to be about Ross and Hudson, and then preseason and the OOC games about getting Pena touches and developing on the same page as Allar. Well here we are and there's not much to show for all that focus. And dependable Cifford hasn't been much of a threat either and there is NO reason to believe that is going to change the remainder of the season as he's been at PSU for 5 years and has been practicing and getting game reps with Allar for 4 years.

So isn't it about time to take what should be an easy game and insert Denmark and Howard into the game and call their numbers for plays and actually try and find a playmaker or two for the remainder of this season?????????

P.S. I'd also like to see Martin get 8-10 carries to see if he can be an impact. The alternative will be seeing the former #1 PA player play for Pitt next season, but I won't blame him if he jumps ship.

It's not the WRs.

Defenses don't fear Singleton or Allar. And they both start half our plays.

Opinions vary. Better WR's would make Allar look better and improve the offense. And an improved passing game would back off the Safety's and LB's and make the running game more successful. Even making Singleton look better as he'd have less bodies in front of him to run right into their arms......

Look. We have wrs who did just fine at other schools against similar defenses to Villanova.

So the Wrs aren't the issue
