2026 Recruiting Class Thread

Will be interesting to see if Franklin can come up with the $ to pull this DT away from Wisky, just like Oregon, oh-high-ya and UM have been taking his lunch money with his top targets.........
Why didn't we go after him harder earlier? At an 87 he is not that highly ranked and actually is probably bottom third of our current '26 players rankings.

Because he's a plan B DT. Only going after him because Oregon, oh-high-ya and UM took his lunch money with his top targets.........

The top recruiting teams already got their DT's (some of the one's Franklin lost to them and some others) so likely Franklin only has to beat out Wisky and this kids other offers that likely don't include Oregon, oh-high-ya, UM, UT (his home state team) and the top SEC schools. May be comical if Franklin and Barnes get this kid to flip to PSU and then in November UT comes calling and he opts for his home state SEC team......

According to 247 Bah's best previous offer was Wisky, and then IU and WVU......

Do we need him that desperately? We have 2 DTs but only 1 EDGE in '26.

My understanding is that Jackson-Ford and Harley are both DE's for the 2026 class.

Seems like Franklin does want another DT in the 2026 class and having recently lost their top remaining targets are looking at all options. Only 1 DT in the 2025 class.

But with Jennings having reclassified from 2026 to 2025 the 2025 class had 4 DE's so 2 may be it for 2026. That is unless Barnes could flip a super talent like Elee.

Using up the 105 roster limit?

I forgot about Harley at DE. At an 87 ranking we can hope he is underrated or we do a great job developing him. We need to start getting more legit 4 star D linemen.

Harley is a legit 4 star Edge on the 247 composite which is usually more accurate than any of the major services alone. And Harley's team mate Carter Meadows is a higher rated 4 star DE who I believe is committed to UCLA, who also was being recruited hard by PSU. But Harley outperformed Meadowns last season. Most of the flashy top recruits aren't coming to PSU in the current NIL environment, especially if they are looking for big $$. It is what it is.

I knew Harley was a good player, I meant this Wisky commit at an 87 rating if we flip him then it is an unknown what we have. If we get him I hope he is underrated.

We are getting beaten out for many 4 star guys and all 5 stars, especially linemen because of NIL. We need to adjust for this and not just concede them all to OSU, Texas, Oregon, Michigan etc. Not expecting us to be right at their level but we have to get in the ball game with NIL.

Maybe we spent all our money last Spring to keep Allar, Singleton, Allen, DDS and Durant. I agree with the retention strategy to bring back proven vets to make a run at the NC. Next year will be different. I don't think we will have the roster to do that nor are we a threat to win it all in '26 so I think for the '27 class we have to unlock the war chest and spend the NIL on some top 100 or top 200 HS recruits, especially linemen. It would be great to have a top 10 class in '27 if not a top 7 or 8 class.

In the big picture getting a top 10 class in '27 is probably a must to at least stay somewhat competitive with an OSU, Oregon, Texas, Bama, Georgia, etc in terms of talent. We can't have 5 years averaging #15 in recruiting or whatever it is. I think if we can stay around #10, maybe slip to #12 for a cycle but then get a #7 or #8 class every 4th year then that should be enough to stay competitive with them. This is especially true if we also do really well at developing talent and are very strategic and smart with the transfer portal.
