Arkansas fires Sam Pittman

Following yesterday's massacre by Notre Dame in the Razorbacks' own stadium.

The list of coaching casualties grows longer. And it's only September.

Get as much time in as possible before signing day? I can't imagine any coach getting fired for a single game, no matter how bad. I don't follow them but he must have been on the hot seat, and in theory this should give a potential replacement more time to recruit.

No question, Sam had been on thin ice. The Razorbacks suffered two very tough losses in a row to Ole Miss and Memphis, blowing a late lead in the latter.

It wasn't so much losing to Notre Dame but the way they lost. It looked like Sam had lost his team. He definitely lost the Arkansas fan base judging by the boos they rained down as the game against the Irish went on.
