Best Franklin vs OSU quote I have heard

Most of the time we play Ohio State like we're afraid that our offense can't keep up. Even though stats maybe weren't great last year we had some offense. They were just really darn good at goal line defense. I hope Knowles brings that mindset to this team. But I also think our OL was not quite there when we played them. I thought from Oregon on we looked great up front. It might have been a different game if that OL was there.
Maybe but failing to get in on 4 tries from the 3 yd line is difficult to swallow. IIRC Warren didn't tough the ball in those 4 plays. Maybe we should have come out with 7 OL like Michigan did a couple of years ago.

Big ten title game has no purpose now that the playoffs have been expanded. It is a disadvantage to the two teams that have to play it unless one of them is outside the playoffs.

Absolutely. I'd rather be co-champs with another team than play them for it if we are in the playoffs regardless. It's now a pointless game with 3 or 4 playoff matchups looming.

Now if they want to do a 1v4, 2v3 where the winners meet and get the only Big 10 playoff spot, then by all means I'm up for that.

The system is going to change massively. There are now 4 conferences. They should all have a championship game then the winners should be ranked for the seeding of a 4 team playoff. Then the SEC will play the ACC (or Big 12) and the Big 10 will play the Big 12 (or ACC). This is a certainty because the SEC and the Big 10 will ALWAYS be the top 2 seeds. Sorry Notre Dame, join a conference or go home.

What may happen in reality is that the Big 10 and SEC break away and hold their own national championship. The other 2 conferences are very obviously a tier below. More money for the Big 10 and SEC.

What I would be okay with is the B10 and SEC are their own league and have their own NC. It could be like the NFC and AFC in the NFL. There really are very few teams not in the B10 or SEC that have a shot at the NC. In the ACC, Clemson and who else.... maybe FSU in some years. Can't think of any in the B12. That would force ND's hand.

If we're going to adopt something like that we might as well kick teams like Purdue and Vanderbilt out of the league and invite teams like Oklahoma. But neither plan is workable because teams like Purdue, Kansas, and Duke are dominant in football.

Personally I prefer the old way. Conferences should be regional and bowl games should be the opportunity to see which conference leaders are the best. But that ship has sailed.
