D'Anton Lynn......

Watched an interview with Lynn last night where he answered questions about PSU only saying he was focused on his players and the USC bowl game, which is tomorrow 12/30. So It's surprising that this is out before tomorrow evening or Wednesday.

Wonder if he can bring the 2 big USC DT's now in the portal with him, one of whom is very highly rated. But if they were already in the portal maybe they didn't see eye to eye with Lynn.....

Maybe there were other rea$on$ though. I'm guess that a lot of higher end portal entrants are about $$$

Besides their defensive tackles, two of their starting linebackers are from Michigan, an area that we’ve had much success with recruiting. Plus, Robinson is there as one of the backup linebackers maybe he comes back home.

To clarify, I was referencing the 2 USC DTs in the portal with that comment.
But I believe the one DT, Devan Thompkins 6'5" 290, is rated .94 on 247 so he must be a real player for USC. And with USC having serious NIL $$ why wouldn't they retain him if they could. He's the #2 DL in the portal as of now and #10 overall in the portal, but he's from California. Have to hope he's tired of all the taxes in CA and is looking for a change!!

It’s funny that these kids will now have to consider the ramifications of California taxes.

Good analysis. I don't know. If you were a top college player your agent is probably pushing for you to explore all of your options because almost certainly someone is going to overpay you. Top DTs aren't cheap and they are hard to find.

The next highest rated behind the DT is a safey, Beavers, who was a 2021 class player, to he'd be a super senior in 2026. I really like our young Safety's that played on Saturday, Lane, Toure, and Mack, as well as Belgrave-Shorter who played a good bit this season. Mack will be a Senior and he's made plays but if he did decide to transfer Beavers might be a replacement. Lynn will know who he would want or not. Will be interesting to see it play out.

At this very moment, I'm sprawled out in my Tommy Bahama chair on the beach, Bloody Mary in hand with some Guac (the Boudro's of San Antonio version with the OJ👍), a sunny 70° with a clear view of Catalina Island. So, I can see those tax ramifications coming in handy when trying to pull those kids up to Happy Valley. 😎

I do remember that comment from Lynn, and honestly it says more about how fractured things have felt than anything personal. When former players feel disconnected, that’s a problem, regardless of who’s coaching.

Re-engaging lettermen should absolutely be a priority for Campbell and Kraft. That stuff matters for culture, perception, and buy-in. As for guys like Blackledge and Shaffer, I don’t see them much around the program, and that probably reinforces the point. If you want the past to feel invested in the present, the program has to make that effort first. 🤷
Lynn hire official, supposedly Blackledge had a big role in hiring Campbell.

Now starting to wonder if Lynn didn’t like Big Game James.. What a difference one year and a new head coach makes. That’s awesome if Todd was involved with Campbell.
