on NIL as reported (by Franklin) on social media?
I thought the school had $22.5 million on top of whatever players could get on their own + through collectives. I also read that PSU spends something like 85% of NIL on football.
Also, the school spent a lot last year retaining very good players that could have gone to the NFL. This year, not so much.I don't trust anything from Franklin, but just to set the stage, please remember that there are separate funding sources.
Universities can spend $22.5M directly to pay student athletes across all sports.
NIL is non-university payments for Name, Image, Likeness and is unlimited. It's unclear what money JF is talking about.
I don't think $7M would cover much more what was was committed to keep Allar/Singleton/Allen in school for an extra year.
Those are some pretty poor ROI's. Wonder how this all shakes out. This money isn't unlimited. There are some pretty big NIL numbers out there. Last year, Texas Tech NIL people paid $25 million to football players. Texas A&M and Texas had NIL payments estimated to be in the $40-$50 million range.
