DOWN go the DOMERS!!!

I thought ND looked played really well tonight. Their other loss was to Miami who looked dominant tonight. I'm glad they lost but they could easily run the table and make the playoffs.
They shouldn't make the playoffs losing to the only 2 ranked opponents that they will play. If PSU lost to Oregon, Ohio St, and Indiana then we shouldn't be in either. But ND plays 2 ranked teams the entire season. Most of their opponents are lower half power 4 teams.

Good riddance from the playoffs!!!

Good night Irene....

I think their playoff chances are in the 50-50 range now. They need a team like USC to have a good season and be ranked as high as possible when the two meet so they have a chance at a "good win."

Hats off to Texas A&M. I hate the SEC but have to admit it's pretty rugged this year with teams like the Aggies, Oklahoma, and Missouri not in the elite ranks of the league but obviously a very tough out. Even freakin' Vanderbilt with the shocker over South Carolina. Just not many soft spots in that conference.

Also, who the heck is this A&M QB? The kid made some big plays...and so did his receivers. What I wouldn't give to see some of that action from our team. But there's still time. Circle September 27 on the calendar.

That Vandy win was more of a function of a very over-rated S. Carolina. No way they were even close to the #11 team in the nation.

like Ross from Troy, there are few "twitchy" and speedy players in conferences like the Southern and Big South. I think one of TAMU's receivers was at Southern Miss. There's S. Alabama, Troy, Jax St, Arkansas St., etc. Cam Skattebo was at Sac State when a friend of ASU's coach Dillingham called him and told him to take a look. These lower tiers need to be thoroughly scouted IMO.

If we were ND fans we would be pi$$ed at the flagrant holding tackle that wasn't called on A&M's winning TD. But we're OK with it as PSU fans.

Watch the pass rush coming up the middle at 0.11 and again at 1:35

They are not out of the playoff picture yet. Their losses are to quality teams. If they win out they will be considered however not being in a conference could work against them this year with two losses.

Yep, the TAM #1 WR is a game breaker. Something PSU hasn't had since ARob and Godwin. Even Washington and Tinsley were basically posession receivers that just ran good routes and got deep only when the other team fell asleep. We need Gonzalaz, Howard or Samuel to be the kind of WR that TAM #1 is, but that's probably just a "wish"..... Every top team seems to have one but PSU.

And having a QB who nicely leads said receivers with his passes.

Very little chance. They play no teams that are ranked and don't get the opportunity of a conference championship play in. They are essentially done unless the conferences royally screw up.

I disagree. They're still ranked 24th and 10 straight wins would likely get them to 10th
The only chance right now of a ranked win is against #25 USC who will play 3-0 Mich St, #9 Illinois and #21 Michigan in the next 3 weeks prior to Notre Dame. Not much chance USC wins 2 of 3 or 3 of 3. They will have a couple of losses before they play ND most likely and be unranked. There isn't much chance of any other ranked teams on ND's schedule. NC St could get ranked by beating all completely lousy teams up to the ND game but everyone will know that NC St is not a real ranked team. NC St is likely a 5 loss team when all is said and done. Losing to every ranked team you play doesn't get you into the playoff.

Southern Cal might be ranked by the time ND plays them in South Bend.
I agree, their two.losses to ranked teams and not playing in a conference should knock them out but the media onslaught will occur if ND wins out.

They have to win out now. That's an obvious #1. #2 is they have to hope that at least a couple teams on their remaining schedule have good seasons and are ranked when the Irish play them, which could happen. USC is the most likely candidate but there are a couple others as well. #3 is they need to catch some breaks with other teams in the playoff mix getting upset...stuff like that.

All of this could happen but you wouldn't want to be in Notre Dame's shoes at this point.
