I'm not seeing it as Franklin getting jealous of the OCs for their 1st year success. I'm seeing it as him reigning them in. He wasn't comfortable with the creativity and taking chances. So he reigned it in. Franklin did the same with Allar. Game 1 he was gunslinging against WVU. Making plays outside of the pocket. Even threw a great ball for a big completion rolling right back across the middle. Franklin saw potential turnovers and told Allar to check it down. You can see it especially in Allar's 2nd year stats. Just check it down. Don't take a chance. We have had a very strange history with OCs. In 2024 Coach K was highly praised nationally with his innovative use of TE Warren. All sorts of creative ways to use Warren’s talents, including deep balls.
Then in 2025 the offense was stale and predicable and never threw deep.
Now look at Yurcich. His first year was amazing. Revitalizing the Wing T. Clifford throwing deep. All sorts of formations and shifts.
But his second year…..boring predictable. So bad he got fired halfway through.
Hate to say this but it looks like Franklin got jealous his OCs were getting more attention and credit than he was so he restricted them in their second year.
It’s hard to believe yby head coach would be so petty but why else did both highly creative OCs suddenly loose their mo jo ?
Granted, in year 2 with a new OC the defenses have seen it firsthand and have a plan to attack it. But there is no more innovation from the OC. It is shut down. I think that is Franklin.
