Ethan Grunkemeyer skill set

Grunk is of the same mold as Drew. He could be mobile enough, but so was Drew. The only difference currently is we haven't seen enough to know what he is. His reputation is that he's INT prone. The question becomes can he be more accurate otherwise? Will he throw before breaks? Lead his man?

Does Smith force AK to shift the offense? What about the defense? We can't stop NW, who can we stop?

So y'all know. The int in the end zone by Drew was not his fault, but Liam's. It was a comeback route with the ball thrown to a specific spot. Liam didn't even attempt to run the proper route, or come back to the spot. The pass was spot on.
Agree, it was absolutely a terrible route. I don’t know why that kid plays other than his older brother. Time to get the young guy time and again, if we start seeing Denmark and Howard on the field, it’s because James had too much input on the offense.

It seems Franklin played favorites

Drew was somewhat mobile, but not quick on his feet. Once he got going he was a load, and could move some in the pocket. But he really did not look down the field and try to make plays with his arm optimally when he was running towards the LOS.

Grunk in limited snaps, looks quicker. Have to hope he sees the field better as he seems to have a strong enough arm. Lots of college QB's are very successful without having NFL arms.

Drew is such a nice young man, and he really has worked hard to transform his body to get stronger and faster after coming to PSU as a big strong farm boy looking QB.

It's really sad to me that Drew can't take a redshirt this season and play another year of college football to try and redeem himself and better prepare for a chance in the NFL. Even if he went somewhere else to get a clean start and try and forget his home stretch at PSU.....

I don't blame Allar for much of the programs ills.

Like I have been saying for 2 seasons now... and you are from HVInsider so you know, Singleton was not a div 1 rb last year or especially this year.

That's a huge huge liability.

Here's a pic from TOS... they say 'just give Singleton the ball in open space. Guess where he went?

The defender was there the whole time. No way I am letting him off that easy. Sure Clifford sucks and ran a crappy route but you cannot make that throw.

Even if he's a semi-mobile pocket passer like Drew but has a better QB IQ with a wider vision of the field, then he will be an improvement IMO.
I think Allar had a very good QB IQ. I think his problem was overthinking and panicking instead of relying on his instincts.

I was screaming at the TV on that play. Couldn't believe Singleton didn't run right.

I don't agree at all. Here is the play, the way it has been executed before, and what Clifford did that was wrong. Essentially, the route is to run to the corner if you are open, break it off for a back shoulder throw if you are covered at the goal line. When you break it off, you come back to the ball shilding the defender so he has to go thorugh the WR to get to the ball, which is pass interference, or go around the WR to get to the ball. In the latter, he doesn't have the time. Clifford neither ran to the back (which would have taken the defender with him and the result an incomplete pass) or break it off and sheild the defender. He did neither. He simply stopped and did nothing.

Does anyone have thoughts on Ethan's playing style vs. Allar?

Thoughts on Ethan's skill set compared to Drew's skill set?
He seems very slight. Small. He seems quicker than Drew and has a fairly strong arm. Obviously, he is a FR without much experience. Tough assigment to play against Iowa at night in their house.
