-Thought Terry Smith did a really great job and most importantly, had the team ready emotionally to play - no easy task after what they’d been through
-team did play with more grit and another game we should have won - we’ve lost the last 4 games by a total of how many points? Is it 14?
-postgame Smith said we have to be able to throw the ball downfield - I just can’t understand why PSU can’t get this done even just once in a while. I watch other average teams and they find a way to do this. And AK was supposed to be able to ‘scheme’ our O into better situations than Yurcich. Yurcich doesn’t look so bad now and JF can no longer be blamed for meddling.
-just cant understand what’s up with Knowles? Inability to stop the run and mobile (even non mobile) QBs is maddening. Does our scheme need adjustments? Is it a personnel issue (obviously Yes at LB)?
-I really hope Kraft has a special HC candidate up his sleeve and ready to go bc Cignetti is now out and after losing to Minny, Rhule has to be.
-how many points will OSU be favored by? I’m thinking @10 and really hope it doesn’t get out of hand.
-thought the Franklin interview on Gameday was inconsequential and there wasn’t much there. Other than getting the hook 15 minutes before a team meeting.

Franklin is best suited to a small southern school that was once good, but now isn't.

I think Terry did well overall. It was a little frustrating that he left DeLuka on the field for the whole game and gave Singleton the most important play of the game.

Agree on both points. Wondering if that’s the play AK is calling and if Knowles just doesn’t trust the freshmen. But I have a hard time believing the younger Lbs are that big of a drop off. Mauti got thrown in early and never left the field and we all know Parsons should’ve started from day 1

And we haven’t even started talking about our DTs. Definite portal need next year - even this year would be nice.

Overall props to Terry Smith for getting the team to buy in given the previous week's firing. They certainly played with more grit as you said.
-I was disappointed when he channeled CJF and went for it on 4th down inside PSU territory with over 4 minutes remaining.
-- What made it worse was Kotelnicki's choice of play and not having Allen in the backfield. I could comment on other play selections but he Coach K continues to flop in key moments.
- Knowles needs to let one of Tatsch/Speca/Wiley play mire reps than Deluca who gets overwhelmed and struggles to get off blocks. Why Knowles hasn't tried 3 LBers seems to be stubbornness. Need more #s near the LOS. Once again, an opposing QB has his way scrambling. Not acceptable.
Left side of the OL (Shelton & Shanahan) I thought they played well given Vega's absence.
Wheatley and Zion Tracy stepped up last night.
Special teams continues to do very well.
Kotelnicki needs to go. Smolik pkg was one dimensional, they knew he was coming in to run.

Overall, they came to play which goes to their character.

Hopefully they build on this and give a max effort @ Ohio State and don't get down on themselves.

Besides DeLuca, who in the DL/LB group have regressed and/or of DII caliber? And is it attitude, size, strength, speed, technique, smarts?
I still don't get how the coaches didn't know that there’s a difference between PSU's recruits and UGA's recruits at LB & DL.

I think our DTs are weak and losing Rojas was not only a blow to our weak LB situation but exacerbated our defensive weak middle. But the D has played OK. The losses to NW and Iowa were due to the offense's inability to move the ball through the air.

Defenses are putting 8 in the box. They are defending the run with more defenders than we have blockers. They are knocking out WR off their short routs. They are daring us to throw deep. We either can't get enough time to get deep and/or our WRs just aren't very good.

Don't believe this. Our defense is killing us. We can't get a stop. Offense is bad, didn't like AK from the beginning, but our defense is atrocious. We let a lame QB get runs of 60 and 40 + on us when it actually mattered.

Yes. If Franklin was actually surprised he was fired Sunday, that means the first work was done on Monday.

Not a lot of time ro shift an entire offense.
