Florida International University at #2 Penn State (12:00 EDT, BTN)

Paid attendance was just under 104,000 but there had to be 20,000 empty seats. I understand it's a weak opponent but the team is ranked #2 in the country. I thought it looked horrible on TV.

Lazy students was the majority.

There is a reason NFL stadiums aren't 100k. It's a tough # to draw 6+ times a season.

Agree about the students, I know they trumpet that the student tickets sell out in about four minutes, but there are plenty of them who buy it just to go to one game or to sell their ticket for the white out to make some money. I know plenty of kids at branch campuses That would drive up on the day of the game to go but instead we have a couple thousand who can’t get their *** out of bed by 11 o’clock to go to the game.

But in PSU's case 104k people paid for tickets and 20k didn't show up. That's insane given the cost of tickets.

Yeah but I'm guessing 10k was the students based on how that section looked on TV. Lol closest available spectators and they don't show up.

I understand that FIU was a weak opponent but I can't remember Beaver Stadium ever being that empty. A lot of the student section was empty, both upper decks were full of empty seats, and one entire section of temporary seats was virtually empty.
I noticed that too. It was kind of a gray day.

But, for the most part, I chaulk it up to expectations. The fan base is looking forward to several B1G opponents that will bring competitive games. The first three games (Nevada, FIU and Villanova, hopefully) were just slightly more competitive then the Blue/White game. The fan base is keeping their powder dry for Oregon, NW, Indiana, and Nebraska. I know a lot of people that are going to UCLA and tOSU this year.
