Looks like you have your opportunity. I went to grok and it said the odds were -3.5 for Ohio State. Seems absolutely ridiculous although I expect a strong effort from PSU because a win over Ohio State be good for the pride of the players and half save what, so far, has been a miserable season. But maybe Jerry is right.

Had a friend that used bet a lot of football games long ago before it was legal. In five game parlays there was always one game that was way off like this one.

He called them sucker bets intentionally off to make you pick a team in a game that was rigged to lose and screw up your parlay.

So everyone will load up on that team to our west but miraculously the Lions will beat the spread. Who knows….we may actually get the benefit of bad calls by the officials…..in Columbus!!! 😹🤪🤮

Buck, Ohio State was a 4-point favorite when the initial look-ahead betting line was set in the summer. So I think the numbers we're seeing now are a simple reflection of that calculation.

With Penn State's season imploded and a rookie quarterback at the helm while Ohio State is rolling, there is no way on God's green earth that the early 4-point number reflects the current reality. In other words, nobody is going to get that deal at this point. But if I'm wrong and somebody does, I hope they give us a holler.

Yep. It could get ugly. Patricia (OSU DC) will look to confuse Grunk in his second start. Day knows Knowles scheme and PSU doesn't have the players to effectively run Knowles scheme and stop the OSU offense that is loaded with skill players.
I expect the PSU team to play hard but the defense has been unable to stop P4 teams and the offensive passing game is very limited.
If Smolik is not available as backup (injured) then they have to max protect Grunk.

I have a very hard time seeing us score more than in the range of 6-10 points in this game.

Granted, strange things can happen on a football field, but in the history of the sport there would be few things more strange than our unraveled team beating Ohio State in the Shoe on November 1.

This line seems too low and easy money if you bet on OSU to cover. I think PSU is getting by on its brand name. I think we will play hard but we simply do not match up. We can't score at any kind of consistent clip and certainly not against OSU. I see this around 31-7 or 31-3 or even a shutout. Best case maybe a 28-10 game but I don't think we get a TD until OSU is up at least 3 scores.

Yet upsets can happen. Or as Al Michaels once famously asked: Do you believe in miracles??? YES!!!

That was hockey, but miraculous things can happen in college football too.

How about Appalachian State beating Michigan. In that same year, pathetic 40-point underdog Stanford beat powerhouse USC.

But never mind those games. For a real upset, who can forget the 1926 upset of unbeaten national champ Notre Dame at the hands of lowly Carnegie Tech. Knute Rockne wasn't even on the scene. He thought the win so automatic that he scouted the Army-Navy game instead. I'm not making that up.

We need something on that order of magnitude to beat Ohio State on November 1.

When is the last time Penn State as a 17 point underdog actually won? In 2016 we were underdogs versus OSU but not by that much.

Actually I think we were 18-point underdogs for that 2016 game, so the betting line now is almost exactly the same.

But the entire vibe was 180 degrees different in 2016.

Plus was at home and we had a good QB with some receivers who had a pulse. Oh yeah and Saquon.
