81.0 % Rutgers

I think he is worth more than the Iowa state QB considering he has one year left and Grunk has 3
The argument is have heard against him is it would be hard to bring in a backup QB since Grunk has 3 years left. That seems like a weak excuse to me

The whole three years thing is ridiculous that people even include that in an argument. The kid is draft eligible after next year so if he has a really good year, then he could go.
I would prefer him over Rocco, but obviously the offensive coordinator and the head coach have a known commodity and relationship. I’m hoping that they also know that the back up would come as well, therefore giving them the same consistency in that department.

It's a good thing to have a known commodity and a relationship, but Kraft is loudly pushing championships. And what coach doesn't have a known commodity in his QB of one to three years? Did Kiffin previously know the QB coming in from Ferris State? I've looked at Becht's stats from the past two years and watched a couple of ISU games. He's looked good in some games and mediocre in others. Very similar to Drew. I just hope that bringing in a guy like Becht is not purely out of convenience.

No one knows how the conversation between MC and Grunk went. MC seems to be a straight shooter so I assume that the best he could offer was a fair competition for the starting job. Grunks agent certainly advised him to test the market. I really see no villain in any of this.

Becht was always coming, and unfortunately, Grunk was always leaving. It's a real shame as I've always loved Grunk. Nice arm and throws a really pretty ball. Very smart kid as well. He loves Penn State. However, when you're talking what he can make elsewhere and play, it's a no-brainer for him.

Grunk was very good, and has the potential to be great…IMO. —I suspect that He was told Rocco was likely coming and there would be a legitimate competition. Rocco appears to have “freshman Zach Mills” touch, and some McSorley type escapability ….so he may have the inside track to run a true RPO. — I wish that Grunk would stay, but he can start and excel elsewhere as a drop back passer. —He’ll likely go to VT , as both his original head coach and QB coach are there, and they are a large part of the reason for his development. JMO

I respectfully disagree. I think Grunk could be really good but I doubt that he'll be good enough to turn pro after just one more year. Even if he does turn out to be that good we will have missed out on a star QB next year.

Why didn't Becht go pro?
Why did Allar come back?

His stats are not good against weaker competition so how could he be?
I thought you were talking about Grunk. He really has taken off against lesser competition. The top competition he faced had led to lesser stats. I like Grunk a lot and wish he saw the big picture of getting developed by the staff that turned 3 star Brock Purdy into a top NFL starter and now has produced a 9000+ yd passer in Becht. But he apparently wants to be guaranteed to start now. So, he is almost certainly gone.

I thought the story with Becht was he was injured and decided to play in college for one more year. He is getting paid over 3 million to do so I saw somewhere.

Allar would probably gone undrafted last year. It is hard to know if that was on him, the coaches, or some of both.

Franklin was never going to have a real competition so Beau left.

I hope one year of Becht is worth losing 2 or years of what Grunk could develop into

Hopefully the freshman backup QB comes too.

Not sure why you are beating the dead horse except that I've noticed almost all of your posts seem to try to stir $hit up. Grunk is gone almost certainly. Just like Smith isn't getting the head coaching job. But some seem to want to continue to push their agenda. Is there anyone who was on the team in the 90s that you want to bring up?

It’s looking like Grunkemeyer is going to reunite with Franklin and O’Brien in Blacksburg. I’m assuming he is going to be the starter next year for the Hokies. I’m also assuming Pribula will not be going to Tech due to this development, but could be wrong. Either way, I wish him the best, but am not sure it’s the best decision for his future QB growth. With Franklin at the helm he may still be prone to overpaying some players as we experienced here at Penn State.
