Halftime: TCU 20 North Carolina 7

I'm by no means a Belichick fan - I feel like he stole a couple of Super Bowl appearances from my Steelers, and I've long said it was mainly Brady, but even I don't like seeing this

Yeah, but you could see it coming a mile away. 73-year old guy well past his coaching prime in the NFL takes over a major college football program and brings his young girlfriend along as a media distraction to make splashy appearances on the practice field.

I mean, he's got $30 million guaranteed coming so it's hard to feel too sorry for the guy.

They weren't supposed to be "much" better. Slightly better maybe. But not much. Not 34 points better halfway through the 3rd quarter.

North Carolina hired a name, not a coach.
I disagree. Nc was all hype because of a coach. They brought in 70 new players I’m not sure why any of those talking heads thought they would be good. Very similar to Colorado and we know how tough their first year was. TCU has a solid program

Oh boy. North Carolina paid $30 million for this? Jordon is not happy. Grandpa Bill better get this straightened out in the 2nd half.
LMAROFL Google says it is a 5 year contract at $10 million/yr, $50,000,000. The $30 million seems the actual cost. No way he lasts 5 years.

Yup, they had a lot of turnover but so did a lot of other teams in this new era of the portal and NIL. I mean, they brought in some talented guys too and the new coach had a hand in bringing them in. In fact, Belichik himself suggested his team would be very good. Meanwhile, TCU only brought back 9 starters out of 22 from last year's team and had some question marks of their own.

The wise guys made North Carolina a 3-point underdog. They lost by 34. And the way they lost was as important as the margin. It went from bad at the half to a total collapse in the 3rd quarter. Some observers thought the team quit on the field. The Tar Heels have a couple walkover games coming up so maybe they can yet get things together.

To be clear, I thought Bill Belichik was a pretty darn good coach in his day...but his day has passed and he's stepping into a whole new ballgame at the age of 73. The young beauty-pageant girlfriend who sits with him at interviews and dictates what questions he's allowed to answer is not a help.
