Happy Birthday to Rosie Grier, age 93

well, it was actually yesterday. Rosie was a PSU all-american football player and also won both the shot put and discuss (qualified for Javelin finals) at the Penn Relays (which was one of the top events at the time for T&F). He was an all-pro player for the NY Giants before being traded to LA and becoming on the "fearsome foursome". He was a bodyguard for Ethal Kennady the night RFK was assassinated. He was one of the first on the scene. He went on to tour with Bob Hope's USO tours and then became a successful actor. He was also considered a very good needlepoint and macrame artist, even writing a book on needlepoint.

If you have a Mount Rushmore of Penn State athletes, he's probably on it or certainly in the conversation.
