I think we've been a little disappointed in our QB play so far

If you flash back to the 2024 season, Allar managed to complete 41 of 58 passes for 729 yards and eight touchdowns in the first three games against West Virginia, Bowling Green, and Kent State. He also completed nearly 71 percent of his passes, while throwing just one interception, and rushing for 77 yards on 18 carries.

In the team’s first three games this season against Nevada, FIU, and Villanova, Allar has completed 57 of 88 passes for 626 yards and four touchdowns. Allar also threw one interception while rushing for 27 yards on 10 carries. That is a schedule that didn’t include a Power Four team compared to the previous season either.

If it's not Allar, it must be the new WR's. From what we've seen so far I don't see the upgrade over Harrison and Evans. Hope the passing game changes for the better on 9/27.

Franklin pretty much said in today's PC that there is still significant work to do in practice to get Allar and the new WR's on the same page going into the Oregon game.

I really like Peña in terms of both his speed and his hands, but Ross is a bit of a disappointment. His evaluation was almost solely based on his Iowa game last season, which may not have been the best metric to use. Hudson is as advertised, good hands and merely average speed. Overall, I think you may be accurate that the group is not necessarily a large upgrade over Wallace and Evans. Circling back to Peña, he may be the only receiver in the group that can beat a good secondary.

It seems like they re force feeding the 3 new guys at wr reps, which is understandable but l don t understand why they didn't use these three games to get more 1st team reps for Denmark and Howard. Both have shown playmaking ability albeit at practice but they re doing it against a stout defense.
I didn't attend any of these first 3 games in person but someone l trust in their football knowledge said you can't see it on TV but Drew continues to miss receivers or not allow for the route to fully develop.
Who knows...it just seems like it s a multi tiered problem....is it the QB, the scheme, the receivers, the development of QB s and receivers?
It s been several years now and it will be a shame if this issues caused them to miss out on an opportunity for a long awaited National Championship

Arch Manning was 11-25 for 114 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception against UTEP. So these things happen, even if your name is Manning.

I'm sure that Drew will get things worked out. I just hope it happens sooner rather than later.

Just keep winning, only stat that matters is the win/loss column.

I have little faith in him. He has struggled against one of the weakest schedules in division 1. He is still reliving the ND game in his head. He has not beaten an elite team in his career. Unless Franklin hires a sports psychologist in the bye week it will be a potentially embarrassing L. I hate to be pessimistic as I am generally the eternal optimist, but when things don’t click vs the worst teams in the country there is something significantly wrong with HackAllar.

ND has two losses, he needs to forget about that game.

We have had three scrimmages. Let’s see what happens on opening night. The good news is the Defense is showing signs of being elite with young guys at DT and DE playing well. Tackling looks real good all around.

It will be big for the offense if the short area quickness and speed that Pena has shown in the OOC games holds up against better defenses.

As was said above I'm disappointed that Franklin and the offense staff didn't use the opportunity in the 3 OCC games to give Denmark and Howard the same chance to not only make plays, show they belong in the WR rotation, but also develop the confidence that young playmakers need going into the more competitive games. From all the reports from practice Denmark and Howard have the talent to be play makers and only need some maturity and experience. It seems that they didn't get that opportunity due to the staff instead wanting to give the 3 transfers every opportunity to jell with Allar in the first 3 games. But from watching the games it doesn't seem that the 3 transfer WR's alone have the talent that PSU will need to take the offense to where it needs to go to end the season the way Franklin believes his team can.....

I think the new WRs have looked pretty good but of course it's a small sample size against overmatched opponents. Hudson seems like a good hands guy. Pena has good speed. Not much from Ross yet at WR but he's looked good on KR.

1 or 2 of those guys must be good. If not the problem is Allar or the scheme.

I attended the FIU game up in the EGU section of the stadium and Drew‘s problems were very evident from my own vantage point. Receivers were open, but he locks down on the primary receiver so often and loses his peripheral vision of the rest of the field.

I don't think we have a Marvin Harrison or Jeremiah Smith type WR but this group should be better than last year.

I agree that Wallace will be missed but Pena showed his ability last year at Syracuse earning 2nd team all ACC honors. I think Pena should be an upgrade over Wallace but for argument's sake let's call that a push. The combination of Hudson & Ross should be better than Evans who hasn't even played for Washington so far this year. I don't think we're going to see Howard but it sounds like Denmark could see action at some point.

I've been very impressed with Reynolds ability to make contested catches but he's probably not as good as a sophomore as Warren was as a senior.

I was thinking about the latter being a real possibility. He knows this is the year and he gets one shot to move solidly into that 1st round or even top 10 draft grade. And he has all day every day to think about it with 1 class.

If you ever listen to an interview he gives then you know he is a student of the game. He knows all the intricacies of coverages and plays, etc. Almost like he can't see the forest through the trees because he is so into the weeds. Peyton Manning was a real student of the game and it turned out great for him.

We are all hopeful that Drew snaps out of this funk and can put it all together on the field. I think everything is the mental aspect of the game and being confident that he can execute at a high level.
