In What Universe Reality Could We Beat OSU?

I know we have games before this one and we could lose them but let's talk about this OSU game.

I can't find a point spread. I think right now it would be around 10.

How could we possibly beat them? Is there any way we can beat them?

I think the first thing is the Knowles factor and the fact that he knows their personnel and tendencies well. So we would have to hope that Knowles can outcoach Patricia. At the beginning of the season I would say that is certainly possible but now I am not confident at all. Plus we don't have Rojas so our defense would have to play out of their mind. This means DDS, Durant, the DTs, and all others have a great game. How do we contain them? Sayin is playing well so you can't just say make him beat you but maybe thst is it. They have great WRs and a great OLine. What is their weakness on offense? I guess it is Sayin or perhaps not an AA RB.

On offense we would need Allar and the offensive line to have a great game. Give Allar protection, run Kaytron, keep ball away from OSU. TEs and WRs play well maybe Ross with a long catch.

On top of all that somehow get a turnover.

Maybe I will feel a little better about our chances after the next two weeks but currently I give us maybe a 5-10% shot.

This game lines up to be an embarrassment for PSU. If PSU does all the things mentioned above on Offense and Defense, we have a chance. OSU is going to be 2 steps faster than UCLA, their defense under Patricia looks better than expected, and their new QB with 5 starts is rolling. The are playing in their own barn and PSU is not a hard team to prepare for. NO ONE on OSU is saying ..... oh man... this PSU team is going to be a dog fight. PSU scares no one. They will pass and run on PSU without too much issue and shut down our run. I can see Allar getting picked a time or two and getting sacked also. Six games in and PSU does not have an identity on either side of the ball.... On Offense, no one know what they are doing and on D we are blitzing from the safety position 15 yards off the ball.... I dont know.

The physicality of OSU vs PSU is a mile. PSU is soft. Nothing is scary about PSU. PSU does not play hard nosed tough football. This is the worst. PSU used to be tough and now we are a bunch of gamers. Our players make an ordinary tackle and strut around like they did something great. When I am watching... I just sit there and think of all the great PSU players who made great plays at crucial times...and they just went back to the huddle. Sadly...... we are soft and weak ..like James Franklin.

If they don't have a QB that plays like Patrick Mahomes as the UCLA QB did last saturday, there is a very slight chance.

The next two weeks should give us a better read on our chances, if any, against Ohio State.

If we come out strong against Northwestern and Iowa, then I think we go into Columbus with a puncher's chance of an upset. After all, there won't be any great pressure. Everyone expects us to lose.

The problem is, the UCLA debacle is suggestive of a team in a state of implosion. Our D's total collapse against a winless team that struggled to put 14 points on the board against Northwestern. A discombobulated O with the WRs again failing to consistently get separation and our QB forced by necessity to become the most effective running option. Just a total failure everywhere you look...and for my money the worst loss of the last 50 years (or more).

Unless we get a handle on this crap and our heads screwed on straight against Northwestern and Iowa, the Ohio State game will be meaningless.

Not going to happen. TOSU is better than last year and we are a hot mess.

The thing I shake my head at is our situation never would happen to OSU. They roll every year like clockwork. Only getting by Michigan is their only issue. And with this 12 team playoff they can lose to them every year and not worry because they always win every other game.

For example, would their 5 star QB ever look like a hot mess? Would the stars on their defense regress? Would their new DC be completely outcoached by a guy who has never called a game? Would their defense give up 80% third downs? Would their offense continually choke in the clutch? Would their OC call horrific plays?

The talent disparity is not that far off. Sure they have an advantage but not such a disparity to the point that people think our game vs them is like if they were playing Purdue or NW. But that is the reality. This all comes back to Franklin. Day is so much better than Franklin that it is scary.
