Is it too early for Oregon predictions?

What I will say to that is if we don't win it all this year or disappoint in some way and Allar continues his so so big game performances then that 2022 class recruiting ranking underachieved because of Allar. In other words, losing Allar may not be bad at all.
I don't expect to win a National Championship. A lot of things have to go right for that to happen against the likes of OSU, Texas, Oregon, Georgia, Alabama, etc.

I DO expect a school with the resources PSU has to be able to beat teams like OSU, Oregon, USC, Michigan, and ND 35%-40% of the time.

I'm concerned that Oregon has superior speed which can lead to big plays if we don't seal the edge or get burned on the blitz. It will be interesting to see what our $3 million defensive coordinator can scheme to keep Oregon off balance.
I had the same thoughts regarding Oregon's speed and how explosive their offense has been so far this season.

But the small all american WR that killed us last season is in the NFL now and their WR that was set to be their top WR threat this season I believe is out for the year with an injury. Together with PSU having excellent speed at both CB and Safety I'm not as worried about how PSU matches up outside athletically as I am about Oregon's scheme on offense particularly in the passing game as they did a great job vs PSU in last year's game. But that was with a 6th year QB who although undersized was a very accomplished QB who seemed to neutralized PSU's excellent pass rush last season with quick and accurate passes to RB's and to WR's in short patterns. Their new QB must have a pretty good grasp on their offense to run up the numbers their offense has so far this season but as has been said will he be able to do that vs the PSU pass rush and overall talent on defense in a white out environment.

I'll just sum up my opinion as this: PSU's offense from last year would lead PSU to a 2+ TD win on Saturday. But although everyone on the offense but Warren is back and TE is still a position of strength PSU's offense sure hasn't played the way it did in the 2nd half of last season and it seems to be a mistery as to why that is. It's possible that due to the basic play calling in the OOC games and with PSU using the whole play book on offense vs the Ducks that the offense will look more like last season's offense. At least that's what I'm hoping as I believe that's what it will take to beat the Ducks.

There's no reason that a team that ran for 297 yards last season vs them and has the whole offense back and is playing against that team with that team having lost two top Dlinemen in the 1st and 2nd round of the NFL draft to not run over that same team this year. But for some reason, mainly the preformance of the offense in the OOC games, I just don't see that happening on Saturday.

I'm old school. Joe used to play with 3 LBs in a bend but not break scheme. PSU gave up a lot of 4-5 yd plays but generally kept the ball in front of them. He blitzed from time to time but not nearly as frequently as Diaz, Pry, or Allen. Franklin's approach is to go for the explosive play on both offense and defense which is great when it works.

My point is that those old defenses kept us in games. Now we lead the BiG in sacks but also give up a lot of 3rd and 10s. That always makes me nervous but that's why Knowles makes $3 million/yr. I hope he earns his money on Saturday.

it will be interesting to see how our stellar DBs handle the speed of Oregon. Last season, the guy who killed us was Tez Johnson, who had 11 receptions for 181 yards. He now plays for the Bucks in the NFL. Gabriel had 283 yards passing, total, so Johnson was 64% of Oregon's passing attack.

Regardless, this is PSU's season. This is THE GAME. If we win, we go into tOSU with confidence and even if we lose, we'll have a high seed for the playoffs as a one-loss B1G team (assuming we win out the other games, of course). I would say this is the second most important game for PSU in the last ten years (last year's semi-final was more important as it was a direct route to the Natty game).

Do not overlook Indiana. They dominated a very good Illinois team

Dakorien Moore was a 5* #1 WR in the country. I think they'll be fine at WR.
