Browns dump him. Not surprising to me as rumors were he stunk in practice.

But now for the Browns it’s Flaco and two rookies. Unless they grab someone off the waiver this week.

They dumped a vet that they had picked up so it will be Flacco, and the two rookies. Word is that they are very pleased with both Gabiel and Sanders. Gabriel is more polished and comes in prepared. Sanders shows flashes but tries to do too much but he can learn.

A couple of things about the Browns, if interested. They think this LBer from UCLA is the next all pro; Carl Schwesinger. And in his pre-season games, he's been all over the field. He's looked really good. The other is their first-round pick from Michigan, Mason Graham. They've kind of protected him but feel really good. Lastly, they picked up a kid named Adin Huntington. The kid played three years at Kent, then a year at Louisiana Monroe, and a year at Tulane. He is 6-1 281 and has been the surprise of camp. They signed him as a free agent as he was undrafted. The kid runs a 4-6 and jumps 38 vertical inches. He's kind of a tweener and can play DT or DE. Browns are going to surprise some people. They will have one of the best DLs in the league.

Their problem, right now, is RB. The kid they drafted from tOSU has been cleared (or, they decided not to press charges) for domestic violence, but the league is still "investigating". But the kid is holding out for guaranteed money commensurate with his draft position, and the browns don't want to guarantee the money, thinking the league is going to suspend him for several games.

Schwesinger was in on the play 90% of the time against PSU last year. Good instincts and hustle. He was a beach dude walk-on.

Seems like a risk, even if he did underachieve.

Yep. An old guy and two rookies. Bet they are scanning the waiver lines looking for an experienced backup.
They signed, then cut Tyler Huntley, a vet who at one time played in the Pro Bowl. They will only keep three QBs so it is Flacco, Gabriel and Sanders. They thought Gabriel made great strides and played really well against the Rams last week. So he is 2 and Sanders, who played well before but sucked against the Rams (Browns cut 4 of the 5 OL he was playing behind) will be QB3.

I agree with you that it is very risky to go with a 40ish QB but they don't want to get rid of Gabriel or Sanders only to have them pan out. The Browns think both are NFL QBs in the making. Don't forget, they still have DeShaun Watson in rehab and on the PUP list (so he's out for at least the first four games).

Browns have two #1 picks next year (Carolina) so I think they will give it the college try but having two top ten picks, overall, next year is really where they are going.

They should not pay him any large guaranteed $. Another time bomb.

Heard Rich Ohrenberger on FOX Sports radio today and he mentioned something I hadn't heard. He contends that the 3rd string pro QB for the Browns is in a better developmental position than #2 , both being rookies because #3 plays on practice squad against #1 defense and QB #2 is relegated to more watching/listening during practice as QB #1 receives vast majority of reps.

What do you think?

It is Carson Schwesinger. He went to my son's high school. He did not get recruited by UCLA. He was a walk on and his high school coach used his connections to help him get introduced into the program. I remember he was a good TE in high school. It was the current coach at UCLA, DeShaun Foster, that gave him a shot. Chip Kelly had him buried on the depth chart.

Interesting. I have no idea. I think the browns like Gabriel better but who knows.
