Looks like Franklin is hiring Howle as his OC

Is he ready to be an OC?
Between Howle and Pry, these are 2 very interesting (surprising?) selections. I actually think bringing Pry back could become a locker room issue, in that it’s awkward and 2 months ago the guy was calling all the shots.

Who knows on both questions. Howle was outstanding. Can he make the leap to leading the entire offense? Pry was an outstanding DC. Will there be issues being essentially demoted to lead the same players. It is certainly a unique set of choices there.

I liked Pry and thought he did an overall very good job. But it always seemed it took until at least halftime until adjustments were made.

Interesting it wasn’t Kotelnicki.

Did Franklin not want him? Of did K not want to work with Franklin again?

Last year K was very creative in using Warren in multiple sets, routes, positions.

This year the offense was cold as vanilla ice. Can’t believe losing one player would completely shut down his creativity. Especially with talent like Drew, Kaytron, and Nicholas.

Even during the Patsy Season it was evident something was wrong. If you can’t blow out Villanova you got problems!

To be fair, last year the offense went through Warren. Wide receivers were non-existent. It was Warren and the RBs.

Last year, if Warren got hurt, it would have been exactly the same as this year

I agree. I don't think he's a bad choice, just the wrong time and place.

QB coach Danny O’Brien is heading to VaTech with Franklin and RB coach Stan Drayton is probably going to South Carolina.

They can take O'Brien. Drayton is pretty good though. That would be a loss unless they get the Iowa St RB coach who has produced 2 backs in the top 10 of Big12 production this year. That might mitigate that loss pretty well.

There's decent money in college coaching. Plus it should be a fulfilling job. Coaches will end up working for Franklin because it's the easy route. They don't necessarily need to buy into his culture and micromanagement, but the pay is good, they know what to expect, and they don't need to go through a job search.

I don't believe we could have expected many, or any, of Franklin's coaches to stay at PSU with Campbell other than Terry Smith. But Drayton seemed to have done a decent job, although Franklin and his staff recruited so well at RB that he had loads of talent to work with.

Just hope he doesn't convince any of the returning RB's to follow him south. There's a nice group (5) potential returning RB's with them all potentially having the talent to be contributors. Wallace, Martin, Smith, Hayes and Coleman.
