McAndrew board

I have an account on the McAndrew board, but mainly out of habit would type bwi.rivals.com so mainly stayed on the Rivals board. I'm curious what were the issues people had/have with the McAndrew Board. Was it aggressive moderation, racy pictures, no politics, etc.?
I’ve never seen a rivals site where the owner or moderator is so involved. He has always been passive aggressive or heavy-handed. Not overly interested in seeing pictures of young women on football sites, I have my porn sites for that. hopefully this site makes it.

Would the world be in a worse place if the internet never existed?

Sure, we would miss out on some good stuff, but overall, it's sapped our collective souls.

Now, get off my lawn.

the monitors there try to put all posts into threads trying to keep thread count to a minimum. So often they spin out of control. It is like going into somebody else's "finder" or "explorer" and understanding how they manage their folders. I like threads that are quick hits, topical, and then go away after that issue drops out of the cycle. I can then choose to read or follow them.

I think we saw some of that on Rivals, too. I don't like when my post is moved, but I get why they do it. I was thinking I may do a sub-forum per game so they all fall under the main football board. Then you can have as many threads per game as you like without messing up the main board. Maybe one main game thread per game sub-forum where we encourage most of the posts for that game, but others can post threads at will in that game's sub-forum without them being moved automatically. As long as people don't get stupid about it.

I'm mostly a lurker, post occasionally. I liked Rivals for the most part. I always found the On3 board to be over-moderated. Hoping this board will develop into a good replacement for Rivals.
On3 pay board became way too cult like once Sean and his followers came over from 247. That group was nuts. 247 is quite good now, but I like what IANit has done with the place here.

The main thing on the game threads is that the sky has to be falling win or lose. Like when we blow out Nevada by 50, I need hear how everyone was concerned that the 3rd string D gave up 10 points.

I honestly get why the boards try to keep politics out of a football board. Makes complete sense in that the powers that be want the site to make sure everyone enjoys the comments and keeps coming back. But that presents challenges:

  1. 1-making the test board a pay board caused people to start posting politics on the main board (especially in a major election year) and that ended up hurting the cause as opposed to helping it.
  2. 2-It is difficult to address specific comments that should be deleted in a long thread because it is necessary to be constantly on guard for threads spinning out of control
  3. 3-there are issues that span sports and politics. I am thinking of threads on movies, sports law, funding, etc. Locally, we just had a very controversial budget passed that funds the Browns' new domed stadium for $600m.

Definitely for me it wasn't McAndrew, it was the little band of know it alls who felt the board was theirs.

Anyone who crossed this imaginary line of taking ownership was beat down relentlessly.
