Muchigan fires HC Moore for cause

There several podcasts reporting that former Michigan players now in the NFL and some current players have threatened the victim. They say this is about to become huge news. I hope this turns out to not be true, but, if it is, Michigan needs to get hammered. If not, there is no longer any point to the NCAA

I’m not buying that. And I don’t think that is a topic anyone should be discussing, especially on the football board. Regardless, PSU just had a similar situation with people wanting Terry Smith to get the HC petition.

UM had just won a Natty and I can certainly understand the program wanting that to carry over in terms of continuity.

I am not saying Smith is corrupt in any way. But neither candidate has the experience as HC for a program of the size and complexity.

Personally, I don't think he was a DEI hire. According to the screenshot a week before this broke which predicted correctly what was happening ["100%" in screenshot] Moore was being protected from firing for DEI reasons. The writer was a former Michigan player. If DEI was a reason for protecting Moore, it becomes a football issue. I have no intention of discussing the merits or demerits of dei here in the larger sense. I don't know if you actually viewed the video but it is worth viewing in the spots I mentioned. Lots of stupidity on Michigan's part. This may be part of the puzzle.

I agree. I feel like the hiring of more by Michigan was about trying to maintain the continuity after Harbough left. The problem with that strategy is that the program also inherited the massive failings of Harbough‘s leadership. And as I said before the Big Ten and NCAA are complicit. They let Michigan and the athletic Director get away with this for a long time. Then it got to the point where it was totally out of control. And now here we are.

So what are thre odds that the NCAA does anything? I think even if worse things come out, short of murder, the NCAA will do nothing. They were on the ropes during the lawsuit Senator Corman brought against them during our sanctions. Corman backed off but I think they knew they were in trouble

What really gets me is that they took away games that Michigan State won but they haven't taken away any Michigan games. Also, I found out at the mgoboard that after all their whining about a 30 million fine, that they dropped their appeal.

You would think that Michigan fans would want this whole recent period of their history erased being such a huge embarrassment. I know that Ohio St wants it erased! ;)

What is interesting to me is what coach would take this position when the investigation is still ongoing. You’d have to be nuts. So if the investigation takes a few months, that could be very damaging to the program. But if you are a guy like DeBoer or any other top candidate, why would you stick your head into the lion’s mouth right now? And how could UM name someone HC that is already part of the program until this is completed? What a mess.

Why not take the job? We all know the internal investigation is a dog and pony show and the NCAA is not going to do anything.

A successful coach at a mid level school will take it for $10-12mil/yr on a five year contract.

If he takes it he will be set for life evdn ig he fails. And he can always say the damage done by the scandal was too much to overcome and he will get another opportunity.

Besides, what wife will allow her hubby to turn down a guaranteed five yr fifty million dollar contract?

Anyone getting that offer can easily have the same offer at a different college for similar money
