I can recall two of their songs: "Lady Jamaica" and "Bargin' Down the Mon" (Monongahela). They were sort of like Seals&Crofts or CSN. Anyone recall the group's name?

Was there a certain bar they played at?

Not who you are looking for, but your post made me think of a few of my favs:

Tahoka Freeway at the Brewery
Velveeta on Old Main during the Arts Festival
Phyrst Family at the Phyrst

They primarily played in a casual bar/restaurant downtown, but I can't recall the name. My roommate found a band called "Cartoon" which covered "Lady Jamaica," but it's not the same group. The guys I heard (a duo as I recall) were all acoustic.

YES! That's them! It was driving me nuts -- thank you!
Great, it was a fun exercise, and walk down memory lane, to think about and research some of the different live bands that performed in State College.

Your roommate was kinda correct in identifying Cartoon. LOL.

I realize now that I was guilty of frequenting too many bars back in the day and not hitting the books. But no regrets, those are the fonder memories...not passing a STAT 100 exam. LOL.

Impressive that you could go back and remember a band name. I was going to say that I can barely remember bar names, then they came flooding back to me. Phyrst, Shandygaff, Rathskeller, Zenos, Cafe 210 West.......
