I don't think either team played well. Miami took their foot off the gas, which allowed ND to catch up while playing a very conservative defense. When they got tied and got aggressive on offense again, they went right down the field. In fact, they really wasted the last series running three very conservative running plays while making their kicker hit a 47-yard field goal. They got the kickoff with over 3 minutes to go in the game, an eternity with the clock stopping on OOB, first downs and incomplete passes. They made their final first down with 1:19 still on the clock then ran three plays to bleed the clock and ND's Time-outs. They then kicked off to ND and then got aggressive on D again. They got back-to-back sacks and an offensive offsides that killed ND in the end.Gosh, I toddled off to bed with Miami leading by 14 in the second half...and now see the Irish made it very interesting in the 4th quarter.
So they end up with a 3-point less to a top-10 team on the road, which probably doesn't hurt them too badly in the rankings but they've got a lot less room for error now playoff-wise.
