- OL RG ?

- Starting CB opposite Harris?

- Starting LBers?

- Starting Safety opposite Wheatley?

- Any other depth intel for DE, WR, TE. and DT

Probably too much to ask given CJF's secretive opetation.

I think that the media sites will release their own depth charts early next week, but as of right now I don't think any answers have been definitively given.

Reminder, PSU doesn't release a depth chart anymore.

I have know real info. I think it almost doesn’t matter, as it will likely be a 16+ game season….. I think the entire 2 deep plays a lot ( maybe 3 deep) .

RG - sounds like Donkoh here to start, but Shanahan was named by Franklin today and will see time here. I'm starting to think they will rotate a lot, take advantage of this depth.

DT - Gilliam could be the starter opposite Durant, he has played that well. Wafle is the clearcut 4th DT now.

DE - Kemajou could be #2 at SDE behind DDS. Williams as well, but thats the 3 deep there. Harvey and Coleman at WDE behind Fisher.

Seems to be zero concern about these spots. Reporters are really starting to buy into the idea that players returning from injury (Donkoh, Ford) won't be pressed into action 100% immediately. By that, I mean that they will share snaps more than the other starters primarily because they are coming off injuries.

CB - will probably be run like they did the JPJ/King/Dixon group. The names are now Harris (JPJ like primary #1), Washington (I think he steps out 1st vs Nevada), Collins (like Dixon, the transfer who keeps getting better and will play as many snaps as Washington), and I do believe we see Dixon quite a bit, possibly even getting snaps in the Nickel with Tracy and Woosley.

Punt Returner - very likely to be Tracy. Sounds like Ross has been held out from here due to his time wearing the light blue non contact jersey.

Kick Returner - seems to be a push for the RB3 bunch to be back there, but all 3 of the primary guys have been limited lately.

Thanks Dave. Lots of positives in that info. I like that they will bring the injured players back slowly through the OOC. As bad as the OOC is and I have complained about it, there seems to be some benefit before playing Oregon. I think we will still not know how solid and deep some positions are until the conclusion of the Oregon game.

I am optimistic about that group, but I also want to see them in action against Oregon. Then we will know. 2024 was so awful that is going to take a lot of convincing for me that the real problem isn’t still associated with the program - Hagans.
Agreed. This is the time of year when all of the teams would be ranked above us based on returning blue-chip talent and we poo-poo it. Unfortunately, other than some surprises, it holds fairly true. Today, we are the ones with the returning blue-chip talent.

Was nice that Franklin did make some comments on the progress of some players at a few positions. What I believe is ra ealistic depth chart as of now, without splitting hairs regarding exact positions on who backs up who as for example many times the 3rd DE may come in for whichever DE starter needs a break if he is clearly better than the 4th DE, but if 3rd and 4th are more equal they may sub exclusively for a particular starter.....

1st Team / 2nd Team / 3rd Team / 4th Team
OFFENSE
QB Allar / Grunk / Smolik (at this point that's all we know regarding the backup QB, Frankin may announce before 1st game)
RB Singleton OR Allen / Martin OR Wallace OR Smith - it would not be a surprise to see the 3rd RB job rotate on a game basis. / Hayes OR Coleman
WR Hudson, Pena, Ross / Clifford, Denmark, Howard / Brown, Ivey, Outten
TE Dinkins / Reynolds / Rappleyea / Schlaffer
L-OT Shelton / Williams / Boyer OR Sexton
LG Ioane / Shanahan OR Cousins
C Dawkins / Loane OR Rulli
RG (competition ongoing) Donkoh OR Counsins OR Shanahan / Cousins OR Shanahan
R-OT (competition ongoing) Rucci OR Donkoh / Rucci OR Donkoh / Goodman

DEFENSE
CB - Harris / Washington OR Collins / Dixon
CB - Washington OR Collins / Dixon
Lion - Tracey / Woosley / Mack
Safety - Wheatley / Lane OR Mack OR Belgrave-Shorter / Toure OR Dinkins
Safety - Lane OR Mack OR Belgrave-Shorter / Lane OR Mack OR Belgrave-Shorter / Toure OR Dinkins
LB Rojas / Campbell OR Deluka / Speca / Nelson
LB Campbell OR DeLuka / Wylie /
DE DDS / Harvey / Kemajou / Robinson
DE Fisher / Coleman / Williams / Mayer
DT - Durant / Wafle OR Blanding / Cook OR Adirika OR Andrews
DT - Ford / Gilliam / Artis OR White / Cook OR Adirika OR Andrews

Punt Returner - Tracey / Ross / Denmark
KO Returner - Singleton (for biggest games) / RB3 competitors Martin OR Wallace OR Smith / Will Ross ever get used as the KO returner?

Other issues impacting Depth Chart:
Legal resolution of charges for Lane and Woosley

Let me know if I missed anything. I'll update for new information as the backup QB is announced, for example.

All in all the news coming out of practice is excellent. It seems our young depth at DE and DT are really coming on strong.

At DT now Wafle is #4 and Blanding #5 so we go 5 deep.

At DE we have Harvey, Kemajou, Williams and Coleman as the 4 depth guys behind Durant and Fisher. Sounds like the coaches have confidence in all of them.

Speca impressing at LB and seems to be our #4. Connor saying Rojas "looks incredible".

Grunk looking like #2 at QB from # of practice reps.

Cautiously optimistic about WR. I wonder how hurt Ross is? I don't think he has participated in contact drills but not sure. Excited to see Howard.

Penn Live reporting from practice notes that Grunk was the 2nd guy in QB reps and took about 5 more reps than Smolik. They are predicting Grunk will be QB #2.

Really solid work on this Greg. It looks right to me except that I hope Cousins or Shanahan are first in at OC in the case of injury. If they are simply rolling the 2s out, then yes, I think it's Rulli as Cousins and Shanahan may be manning the OG spots.

Even last season, Franklin has a lot of love for Rulli. So it would not surprise me for Rulli to enter a game if Dawkins got dinged. With Cousins and Shanahan focused on their battel to win playing time at Guard they likely are not practicing at Center.

I wonder if once a winner is declaired at RG if one of the Guards that is not starting might then focus on reps to back up at Center and to compete to start at Center in 2026. Ioane will likely be in the NFL in 2026.

He was diving after a pass from Allar yesterday. I suspect he isn't very hurt, if any at all now, and any non-contact is not wasting contact on a guy who has years experience.

It's more dependent on Kotelnicki drawing up and calling plays to get them better looks, and Allar making the right reads and throws.

I’ve read that Hudson is the best of the transfers. But body, athletic, great hands. Lacks speed but not necessary against zones. If we can establish Dinkins or a TE pass catcher, Hudson can shine finding Spot to sit down in as the defense concentrates on someone else
