Off Season and Spring Practices Articles thread.....

Campbell can get started on putting Franklin in his bottom feeder ACC conference place by beating him out for 2027 QB Peter Bourque, 6-foot-4, 220-pounder from Massachusetts that recently decommitted from Michigan.

I see he is described as a towering pocket passer? Do you think that is what Campbell will really want?

It would seem based on what Campbell did at ISU and what has been discussed regarding his offense that he does want mobile QB's.

So if Cambell is going strong after Bourque that Bourque must be athletic enough to be a threat running as well as having a very talented throwing arm.

In general it seems that in recent years mostly all of the top performing QB's in college football consistently get some first downs running and scrambling.

I haven't watched much film of Becht but the reports are he's an excellent runner and it's reasonable to assume that Cambell wouldn't be recruiting QB's that aren't athletic enough to run for first downs when opportunities exist.

We likely won't see any running by the QB's this Spring. Surely not by Becht if he even suits up for the B/W "game". And we'll likely have to wait until a real opponent in the Fall to see the real Campbell offense. Likely vs Wisconsin in the 4th game.

Interesting article on the PSU oline with a projected 2026 starting lineup of Goodman (LT), Buhr (LG), Riker (C), Cousins (RG), and Donkoh (RT).

I never bought into that whole positional seal block RPO mentality. Football in the trenches should be mano y mano violence. Nasty hand shivers are part of it. Opponents get worn down, physically and mentally. Old school. 👍

That is alot of key players sitting out this Spring. Lots of catchup on their part required come Summer and then Fall camp. These are critical players that have to be 100% for Fall camp participation.
It seems like we are taking it slow with guys that this staff already has confidence in and allowing younger and new to the staff players those reps. From what I've read, most of those held out now are full go come summer practice. We sort of did this last year as well and unfortunately we had returners that seemed to rest and not get better. I'm hoping there is a different attitude under the new staff. You take your foot off the gas and others pass you by. You either get better or you get worse. Not sure who said that, but it was someone pretty famous and successful.

Some good reading about the WR's brought in and how they fit Campbell's offense, as well as an article about how the portal additions fit into the offense.

Every time I look over the roster DE sticks out as the position weakest in talented numbers, especially since in most game a team rotates 4 DE's to keep the starter reasonably fresh at crunch time. Need a couple of young players or the transfers to step up and for Kemajou and Granville to stay healthy.
