Pat Fitzgerald settles with northwestern

Getting back to the settlement, they rarely allow a party to talk about any details, especially discovery evidence. The fact this was ever released is pretty extraordinary. NW was clearly screwed if this ever got to court. Financially, I'm guessing the settlement paid off his contract in full, maybe a little more, plus all attorney fees, and in exchange for the letter future massive earnings were dropped.

Yep. It looks to me like they settled on a financial number, but PF wanted to clear his name. So they agreed to allow PF to release a statement, clearing his name, that NW was comfortable with in terms of wording. It probably cost PF a few bucks. Everything comes at a price. But PF isn't hurting for money and wanted to clear his name.
