is at "The Open" this week, the last of the four majors. Kinda sucks that the majors are closed in the middle of July but they wanted this championship run as well as this is a Ryder Cup year...whatever.

In any case, the Open is going to be played at Royal Portrush. IMHO, the prettiest of the Open courses. It may come as no surprise that Rory McIlroy holds the course record at 61. But did you know he set it when he was only 16 years old? At the time, the record was a 64 IIRC, so he broke it by 3 strokes at age 16. Wow.

Two years ago we had lunch at the Royal Court Hotel which overlooks the sea and the golf course. The view was absolutely stunning on a sunny day. The clubhouse looks unimpressive but the course looks like a real challenge with uneven surfaces, deep pot bunkers, and lots of heather.

The course is very close to Giant's Causeway and Bushmill's distillery.
