Pinstripe Bowl & tickets

Being that we’re only 2 hours from Yankee stadium, going to this game could be appealing. And we had a great time 12 years ago in PSUs last PB appearance. But there’s only 14 sections with tickets available on Ticketmaster @$90 - all upper or top level - and tickets on Stubhub in lower levels are easily over $250 currently. So who bought all these tickets already? I also would say that watching a game in a baseball stadium generally doesn’t provide great sight lines IMO.

Not me. Went to multiple games last post season but I'm not going to go to that $hithole city, pay way too much, and sit in the cold to watch my least favorite PSU team possibly ever. I'll watch on TV and see if there is anything to glean from those who might stay for next year. But I'll sit this one out. Mostly because I don't want to be anywhere near NYC around the holidays.

Agree. Cold and wet is not my idea of a bowl game. Other than Rockefeller Center, there are better times of year to hit NYC.

My wife has a work associate in Greenville, SC who is a Clemson grad and fan who was inquiring about the logistics involved with attending the Pinstripe Bowl. He's never been to NYC. I recommended flying into LaGuardia, staying at a midtown hotel (anywhere from $200 to $2000) and taking the train at Lexington Ave up to Grand Concourse (#4?). In that way, Rockefeller Center, museums, and other tourist stuff are nearby. Does that makes sense?

For the Northeast "locals". Take the drive up to the game. Party in the parking garage with the PSU contingent. Hand a Clemson fan a beer. Head in and enjoy the game. If a longer drive (e.g. from Pittsburgh or DC) is a pain, then find cheaper non-Manhattan lodging in Westchester or Paramus areas. Easy peazy.

Not worth it to me frankly (or Frank Lee). But have a great time. Someone has to do it.

Sadly, a non-refundable oceanfront Airbnb awaits me that week in sunny 70° San Clemente. But if I still lived in PA... 🙂
Seriously, in-person PSU games are fun, no matter the conditions, even if in a snowmobile suit at the Beav in November.

Yep.Get around on the subway and if not comfortable, budget a lot for Uber/Lyft. Lots to do holiday week. FAO Swartz and the Rockettes are fun. Skating at Rockefeller and touring 30 Rock along with side trips to the Chrysler Building, World Trade Center building, and the Empire State Building. Hudson Yards and China Town are a great place to finish Xmas shopping. Plus, Broadway. The city is beautiful this time of year.

For the newbie on a short stay, the three-hour Circle Line tour is recommended for kicking things off so that a lot of places can be viewed without taking up the time to actually go there. E.g. Ellis Is, Statue of Liberty, downtown skyline, Brooklyn Br, UN, midtown skyline. I've never done that in the winter, but I'm sure a hat and gloves would be useful.

Great points. And in the winter you can duck into a coffee or pizza place at anytime to get a warmup. Office building lobbies look great with the Xmas decorations and don’t mind you being there as they have security before you can get to the elevators.

Don’t forget to check out the furries on Times Square! I took my daughter when she was about 13. In the first 10 minutes some hustling woman crashed into her on the street and sent her to a brick wall and then she saw a guy pissing in an ally. Shortly after, she saw an “Elmo” take off his head and wipe his eyes. Quite an experience. I told her it could have been worse. We could have bumped into Alec Baldwin.

33°F at game time. Not only the fans, but both teams will need to suck it up. NYC actually lacks a FB venue.
I see a pro soccer facility is going in near Citi Field. That would be a great location for the Jets to put in a domed stadium where other events could be held, like CFB playoffs and Superbowls. It's ratty nearby but convention type of stuff with hotels and the usual Yard House/D&Bs restaurants could go in. 15 minutes from LaGuardia.

cold weather should be a benefit to PSU, the southern schools dont come north often and usually pack it in if they get down early

Yep. It's been 50-60°F in that part of SC. Both teams are probably looking to run. 33°F on Saturday in the Bronx with a 90% chance of snow.

Tom Allen to the OC, "get one-on-one isolation on number zero". The untested LBs and DTs will need to step up. Run a 4-3, cuz Clemson is running between the tackles.
