PSU vs. Nebraska 7:00 on NBC, Lions favored by 10.5

The line seems a little high, but the QB situation at UNL is factoring in.

Yup, the season has been a disaster but Vegas continues to accord this team a lot of respect as reflected in the betting line every week.

But it seems like a really nice thing to have Senior Day on NBC primetime against a fairly decent team. I thought the guys showed up to play yesterday and that's a good sign. Still saw an attitude of excitement and motivation.

I'll tell you, Terry Smith has done a darn nice job given the situation he walked into. We came within inches of beating Iowa on the road and then doing the same to unbeaten Indiana at home. And really we handled Michigan State pretty easily.

I'm warming to the idea of giving Terry a chance at the head coaching job. I mean, a lot of names are dropping off the list as they sign extensions and really what you're left with is paying some guy who put together a decent season or two a mint to come in and start over. Whereas Terry knows the program. He's a Penn State guy through and through.

Meanwhile, it's looking like Franklin will sign a deal with Virginia Tech this week.

10.5 favorite over Nebraska who got 12 points in the coaches poll. That aligns pretty well with the ESPN Power Index where PSU is at #20 and Nebraska is at #31.

The season was really lost by losing to #71 UCLA. UCLA got a career day from their young QB but Franklin and Knowles sure didn't have a game plan to deal with him and failed miserably to make any adjustments on defense as that game went along.

I am starting to think the same thing. The players seem to love him and he is getting them to play hard. The OC has to go. If the team wins the remainder of the games, I think he should get serious consideration
Agree on AK. Wouldn’t mind Knowles staying and seeing what he can do in year 2. Not sure how I feel about Terry Smith staying as HC. I do like what he’s done with the team so far. However If we’re shooting for a Natl championship then does it make sense to hire Franklin’s assistant? It seems a big hire is in order but not sure who that is. I do think the Offense needs a lot of changes and would be interested to see what Hartline has to offer especially from a scheme, identity and recruiting standpoint.

Question to ponder for the board: if Franklin gets the job at VT would it be ok for him to hire Brent Pry as his DC or Lb coach? (Obviously not but….) I think if he goes elsewhere he certainly brings Pry along with him.

This line is way too big. We are the most overrated 4-6 team in the history of college football. We were struggling against an awful MSU team. I think we win because we are at home but this will be a one score game.
