Alan knows........ Just because he tells you the truth and you hate it, it doesn't make him wrong.
1) Each side promotes agreements as being good for their respective countries. Neither side is going to say that they lost the negotiation. So yes there are exaggerations on both sides.
2) None of these deals are firmly written at this point. That has to be done by legislators.
3) It's often true that people don't live up to agreements. That's why we'll have to wait and see if NATO countries are really going to spend 5% on defense. I'll be happy if it gets to 3%. Who lived up to the Paris agreement?
4) Do you think Japan/Nippon Steel really isn't making any investments in U.S. Steel?
5) I'm pretty sure that the USA is going to charge a 15% tariff. It's silly to call it fraud because we're charging them 15% instead of 25%.
6) I think some of the tariffs will be passed on to American consumers but I also think Japanese manufacturers will likely absorb some of the tariffs by lowering prices. I also think the tariffs will induce companies to eventually manufacture more items in America. That includes Japanese companies like Toyota & Honda who already assemble cars here.

This is what Trump's thoughtful and well designed tariffs are doing - now up to $15 trillion in pledged investments in the next few years. This isn't some taxpayer funded fake chip bill, this is real investment that dwarfs it and doesn't cost the taxpayer money. This is an order of magnitude bigger in its multiplier effects, and highlights the difference between capitalism and social corporate welfare.
