UCLA is imploding

Wow, they lost at home by 25 points to New Mexico last night to drop to 0-3 on the season. They had been 15-point favorites.

It's hard to see DeShaun Foster making it through the year at this rate. Heck, he may not even make it to October.

Foster was not a good HC choice, but maybe good as a coordinator. A quiet guy. I'm not sure what they did re portal and recruits to improve the team, other than paying for the QB. The school also has an admin that doesn't care about sports.

Interestingly many of their other sports are quite good. Cronin has done a good job with the hoops program and they are certainly solid. The women's hoops is very good. Softball, baseball, soccer, women's gymnastics are all very good. The men's volleyball program is strong. Not sure about WVB. It's not like all their sports are poor performers.

Yes. Your last line says it all.

The UC System has been overrun with lifelong academics and first generation kids with more interest in KPop than sports.

A great formula to help USC and other private universities in California raise their tuitions

UCLA is still a top 15 academic institution and the #1 public institution in the country.

You don't believe it is one of the best academic universities in the country?
I'm guessing with the K-pop reference, that it's the rich kids from Asia raised by tiger moms paying full tuition. Academic publications and high ranked professional schools also help. Same with USC where Asian enrollment has pushed the minimum SAT to around 1500. In Singapore, most of those kids with those scores would not be accepted into the few premier schools there.

There is a high Asian enrollment, no denying that. However the academic requirements to get admitted there are just about the most stringent of any school in the U.S. The non Asian students are very bright and accomplished.

Here's something that may help you:

Try contrasting this list with the top academic public Universities.

Also, this topic was about athletics. That's what I made my initial point about.
Having great academics is wonderful. But for UCLA, that's by default.

UCLA, Wisky, and Minnesota. I can see half the conference not putting in the effort regarding football.

Minnesota is still trying. They are just in a terrible location for recruiting and have no name value. Throw in NIL, which they don't seem to spend for, and you have the Wisconsin recipe for irrelevance.

Say what you want about Alvarez, but he understood that they had to be different. Big, homegrown OLs and find a great RB and ride him until he gives out. The conference is so big now that some years you can get a real diluted schedule.

As for UCLA, they have never won anything football wise. Why anybody expected a Big 10 slate to help them is beyond me. Their last great season was nearly 30 years ago. Unless they put some resources into the team, they are going to fight for bottom of the barrel.
