Week 1 FTB, Updated 9-2-25 With Codutti

Codutti tackles the transfers.
I just, finally, had a chance to watch this. As always, a great breakdown. He's a little hard on Hudson but he knows more than I know. But what I liked is that almost every single one of the throws leaves Allar's hand before or deeply into the WR's break. Against Nevada's weak corners, this is easy pitch and catch. The QB can see when and where the WR will be open. Codutti notes, on several occasions, where the WR optioned into a different route depending on how the cover back covered. So the QB and WR need to be thinking as one.

Back to Hudson, he had really good success at USC so it will be interesting to see if he makes any adjustments this coming week in terms of his route running and arm actions.

I also look for deception AFTER the snap. Things like drawing LBs into the wrong hole. Convincing fakes by the QB, with or without the ball. Sharp out and up routes or quick pivots by WRs (discussed re Toney in ND-Canes thread). Execution that creates confusion and separation, and not just from the play design.
