Week 12: Penn State at Michigan State (3:30, CBS) Game Thread

For God's sakes, throw the friggin' ball downfield. Grunk has shown the ability to do it but it hasn't been called once on this drive. You make a couple of those throws and it loosens everything up.

Yes, but Allar either doesn't see it or misses it.
To be fair, Allar tends to play OK in these types of games. But Grunk played better in the second half last week, in his third start, than Allar in pretty much any big game he was in.

On replays, I've notice Hudson getting 5-yd separation before the defense closes on him. And not just with him. I think Gronk is like Allar. He doesn't throw to a receiver as he comes out of his break. He waits to make sure they're wide open.

What a mess.

Yup, just two months ago in our worst nightmares we couldn't imagine that we would have been playing Michigan State on November 15 just trying to eke out eligibility for a crappy bowl game and searching for a new coach.

What a mess.

Penn State QBs hang on to the ball too long. It may be that nothing is open, but I doubt that's the case. There's a sweet spot for Grunk IMO. 10-15 yards on slants, curls, quick sprint outs. It takes 1-2 seconds. The short stuff like dump offs and screens are sniffed out and the waiting for downfield stuff to open up doesn't work either, accept for the blown coverage to Ross.

Slant, but Reynolds dropped it. Next play Grunk holds the ball in the pocket for five seconds, then eats it.

Again, a mess.
