Why not Terry

So a recruit from Harrisburg HS commits to Penn State and after Franklin's dismissal, commits to WVU and not to VT. I'm not sure what this tells me about what decommitting recruits are thinking, but with the new HC hire, there better be a plan already put in place by Kraft to immediately go back after some of these guys (no longer considered kids) with some loot.

He committed to V Tech long before Franklin got hired.
 
I was watching Terry's press conference today. He was energized with a gleam in his eye. Post interview. Just reporting what I witnessed.

Regarding my OP on this, Brown decommitted after Franklin was fired but didn't wait and commit to Franklin at VT. The point is that he didn't like the instability or the lack of certainty at PSU. Such concerns can be laid to rest with a new coach, a visit, and some cash.
I'm guessing that Mickens was promised the Singleton role at VT along with some money, because why would he trust Franklin given the Oregon, UCLA, and NW games plus all those OSU busts?

Salvage as much of the class as possible and also grab a portal guy for each position except maybe TE. 20 players. Some starters, some for depth.
 
If it's not Terry this whole team is gone. Chazmania devel to OSU, Max and Kemajou to VT along with others. It will be a 4 to 6 year rebuild before they figure out the new guy sucks and fire him.
Actually, if he planned on hiring Terry he would have done it by now, why wait?

I liked Drink because he might bring the Pa quarterbacks here. And he must be a good recruiter to talk them into going there, but he is off the table.
 
Maybe Kraft is waiting to name Terry the new HC until after Rutgers. Would definitely look bad naming him HC and then losing to Rutgers, but any new coach may lose a game that PSU traditionally wins early next season with a new roster. Hopefully thats (the Rutgers W/L strategy with Terry) not the case as this hire is about so much more than just getting to a bowl game this season...... The new coach can rebuild from whatever roster he ends up with much faster than what Franklin did given the current NIL and transfer portal opportunities.

Anyone but Terry and there is a mass exit followed by a three year rebuild.

And don’t tell me the portal will fix all. Ain’t buying it.

You are correct it obviously isn’t Terry or it would have been announced by now. And with early signing day five days it’s too late for a new coach to make a big recruiting move.

And if a new coach was already hired but not announced as some say…..and that new coach was secretly recruiting everybody would know about it. Kids would be telling friends and word would get out.

Hoping some of the ones that decommitted are patient and wait beyond Wednesday but with big 💵 on the line few will.
 
We need a coach who can bring out a "I refuse to lose" toughness of the Mike Mauti sort and Terry seems to have done that. Bret Belima is another coach whose kids play tough. Terry can recruit the 5 star kids, be sincere when he tells mom and dad that graduation his a priority and still coach with a demand that everyone live up to their abilities and responsibilities.
